The company builds intent-driven systems that help people with neurological conditions regain capability and autonomy.
Its platform combines implantable neural interfaces, adaptive algorithms and assistive devices to turn neural intent into real-world movement. The first target is motor impairment after stroke, with plans to extend into cognitive decline and other neurological disorders.
Responsibilities
Data volume is climbing quickly from preclinical and early human studies, and clinical studies are next. You will turn this data into sound answers, from measuring signal quality and decoding accuracy to finding other movements and behaviors that can be extracted and decoded, while building analysis workflows that stay reliable as the data grows.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role on the Research team, reporting to the Director of Research. Working alongside the scientists who run the studies, you will influence study design, decoding approaches and publications. You will also work with the Software team, which maintains production code and the infrastructure used in studies.
Lead analysis of research studies from start to finish, covering strategy, statistical design, figures, readouts and publications.
Measure and validate the in vivo recording performance of the neural interface, including signal quality, noise, artifacts and stability, and set the preprocessing and quality checks that later analyses depend on.
Build and test decoding models that link neural activity to behavior, including models used in closed-loop sessions.
Explore neural and behavioral data, including pose estimation and kinematics, to identify new variables and questions worth pursuing.
Create reproducible analysis pipelines and help define data standards across studies.
Shape analysis plans and study design with study scientists, explain findings to scientists, engineers and leadership, and hand research-grade methods and code to the Software team.
Requirements
A PhD in neuroscience, neural engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or a closely related quantitative field, or a Master's in one of these fields with 4+ years of relevant experience in a research-focused role.
Substantial hands-on experience with continuous neural time-series data, ideally field potentials such as ECoG, sEEG, LFP or EEG.
A solid grounding in neural signal processing, including filtering, spectral analysis such as band power and time-frequency methods, artifact handling and feature extraction.
A working applied machine learning background in supervised and unsupervised methods, particularly on noisy biological data.
The ability to frame scientific questions on your own, choose and justify methods, and take analyses to clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.
Experience aligning neural recordings with behavioral and task data.
Strong Python and scientific computing skills, with a record of writing reusable, maintainable analysis code and using version control and sound data management.
Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort working across scientific and engineering teams.
Experience with human intracranial recordings.
Experience with motor decoding, cognitive-state decoding or closed-loop BCI.
Experience with video-based pose estimation or kinematic analysis.
Experience building data pipelines or standards shared across studies.
Experience with cloud-based data processing.
