Description

The company is one of the largest energy companies in Europe. It makes electricity and heat and supplies energy to millions of customers in Sweden, Germany, the UK, France, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands.

With about 21,000 people, it is moving away from fossil fuels toward a sustainable energy system.

As a Senior Data Scientist you join the B2C Data & Analytics team, which builds data-driven solutions for marketing and sales, customer journeys, service and digitisation, proposition development and sustainability advice.

You build end-to-end data science and AI solutions that support the business-to-consumer goals, covering sustainable customer offerings as well as business value.

Responsibilities

  • Frame problems, build models, then evaluate, deploy and keep improving them.
  • Use internal and external datasets on the Analytics Platform to tackle complex business challenges.
  • Choose the right approach for each challenge: classical machine learning, Generative AI, or a mix of both.
  • Look beyond accuracy by weighing robustness, cost, latency and risk, and set clear criteria for moving a solution from experiment to production.
  • Build robust, explainable solutions for customer channels and internal systems.
  • Apply sound software engineering: modular design, testing, code reviews and reproducible work.
  • Work with Data and ML engineers on production readiness, monitoring and ongoing improvement.
  • Stay close to stakeholders throughout the lifecycle so solutions meet real needs and get adopted.
  • Mentor less experienced data scientists and share your knowledge through the Data Science Community of Practice and shared data and AI standards.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on data science skills, and the ability to turn messy business questions into working solutions.
  • Solution-oriented and critical, with a sense of ownership and comfort working with people from other disciplines.
  • Able to explain complex models and AI solutions clearly to non-specialists.
  • Willing to challenge existing approaches and give technical direction on complex work.
  • A degree with a strong quantitative focus, such as Mathematics, Physics, Econometrics or a comparable field.
  • Extensive experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role, with the seniority to own technical decisions and guide others.
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Dutch would be a plus.
  • Experience working in agile teams.
  • Production-quality Python with modular design.
  • Deep knowledge of machine learning, probability and statistics, applied to real-world problems.
  • Experience with large, complex datasets, distributed computing and query optimisation.
  • Hands-on Generative AI work: LLM APIs, prompting, structured outputs, and agent or tool-based workflows.
  • Ability to judge AI solutions critically on suitability, quality, safety and business value, rather than choosing a technology for its own sake.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, code reviews and automated testing.
  • Practical MLOps and/or LLMOps know-how: reproducibility, versioning and monitoring of production AI and machine-learning systems.

Conditions

Salary is set by education and relevant experience, from €5,700 to €7,100 gross per month for 38 hours per week, excluding holiday allowance.

Hybrid working: at least 50% of your time at the office, with the exact pattern agreed around the role and the team.

The company values work-life balance and keeps exploring how to support it.

Pre-employment screening is part of selection, scoped to the role and carried out by DISA Global Solutions AB.

Apply in English by the 11th of November. An online assessment is part of the process.

The company is committed to equal opportunities regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, transgender identity or expression, religion or belief, disability or sexual orientation.

Questions about the role or process go to Eva Deen, Recruitment manager.

  • An NS Business Card for commuting, or a travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre up to 50 kilometres one way, plus a home-working allowance of €3.05.
  • 20 statutory vacation days and 5 extra vacation days through My Budget My Choice.
  • 2 extra non-statutory days as compensation for overtime from scale 9, through My Budget My Choice.
  • 5 vitality days and 13 ADV days when working a 40-hour week on a 38-hour contract.
  • My Budget My Choice lets you buy or sell extra vacation days, buy a bicycle, or have the budget paid out monthly.
  • ABP pension, with the company paying 70% and you paying 30%.
  • A collective health-insurance discount with Zilveren Kruis Achmea.
  • 4 hours of leave each year for volunteer work through the company Foundation.
  • An education budget for your personal development.
