Description

The role sits in the enterprise data office and product solutions team, where the goal is data that is accurate, timely and fit for purpose for business, risk management and regulatory reporting.

You will work with the Markets, Risk, Finance, Technology, Client Organisation and Data Engineering teams to gather requirements, understand how applications process data, find gaps and design systematic solutions.

Most days are collaborative. You will talk with application teams and users about how Markets products are processed in the regulatory reporting data flow, and you will document product data flows, including transformations, mappings, enrichments and logic held in enterprise systems.

The company is a global financial institution that provides financial services to its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and document derivatives and securities financing transaction (SFT) data flows across systems, comparing current and target states and running gap assessments to support adoption of the target state.
  • Run daily day-over-day variance analysis for assigned trading books, attributing movements to market risk, trade activity, model changes and pricing adjustments. Build and maintain analytical tools and dashboards that automate this reporting.
  • Lead end-to-end data flow assessments for every data element used in regulatory reports, and identify the right strategic sources for critical data elements (CDEs).
  • Work with business stakeholders to identify CDEs, set data standards and quality expectations, and rank the fixing of data issues.
  • Design and put in place data governance controls, such as data quality rules, reconciliations and lineage tracking, to protect data integrity.
  • Design and deliver systematic solutions that remove manual work, resolve tactical adjustments and automate data workflows.
  • Write detailed functional requirement specifications covering calculations, transformations and aggregation logic, then carry out functional testing and data validation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in banking, financial services or capital markets, with a strong focus on data controls, governance and analytics.
  • Deep understanding of derivative products (such as equities, FX, IRS and commodities) or securities financing transactions (such as repo and securities lending), plus knowledge of regulatory requirements and data governance policies.
  • Strong data analysis and visualisation skills in Excel, SQL, Python, PySpark and structured and unstructured databases, with experience in data modelling and data management methods.
  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted data analysis, including AutoML, Python libraries and automation, and the ability to use prompt engineering and GenAI or LLMs to improve workflows.
  • Experience running data initiatives and using data management, process mapping and lineage tools, from planning through to day-to-day production support.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving, with the ability to break down complex data structures, spot issues and build logical models that meet business needs.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical business partners and leaders so they can approve plans.
  • A self-motivated self-starter with strong project, process and organisational skills, able to reprioritise and manage several projects at once within a collaborative team.
  • A bachelor's or university degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: an engineering degree with postgraduate study in finance.
