Senior Business Analyst – Consumer Risk Platform (BNPL / E-Commerce) (m/f/d)

You will join the Product team as a Senior Business Analyst, shaping and delivering the consumer risk platform that supports real-time credit decisions, fraud prevention and customer risk checks across the company's BNPL and checkout products.

You will work with Product, Risk, Data Science, Compliance and Engineering to turn complex risk and regulatory requirements into platform solutions that scale.

The company has over 4,000 people from almost 80 nationalities across 11 countries and belongs to the family-owned Bertelsmann group.

Responsibilities

• Lead business analysis on complex cross-functional projects, from discovery through delivery to post-implementation review.
• Serve as the subject expert on customer risk, fraud prevention and underwriting, and spot chances to optimise and innovate.
• Split large initiatives into epics and user stories that fit architectural principles, then write acceptance criteria, support test strategies and validate complex business logic.
• Own and refine business and system requirements across the risk platform landscape, including workflow engines, decision engines, data platforms and third-party integrations.
• Assess how regulatory and risk changes, such as BaFin or EU requirements, affect systems, processes and customer journeys.
• Work with product leadership, engineering and data science to shape roadmap decisions.
• Coach junior analysts and help improve analysis methods and ways of working.

Requirements

• Degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Economics or a comparable field.
• 5+ years as a technical business analyst or in a similar role in FinTech, payments or financial services.
• Solid knowledge of risk, fraud or payment processing systems.
• Track record of leading complex initiatives and influencing stakeholders across functions.
• Able to turn business needs into scalable designs covering APIs, workflows and data models.
• Solid experience in agile teams (Scrum or Kanban), including owning and refining the backlog.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• High level of ownership and autonomy.
• Fluent English, with German as a plus.
• Experience with BNPL, consumer finance or credit risk decisioning systems.
• Hands-on work with SQL, Python, Databricks or Power BI.
• Familiarity with fraud detection systems and rule-based or ML-based decision engines.

Conditions

Based at the Berlin location, with hybrid working available; the company runs 30 hybrid workspaces.
