Senior Backend Engineer

Description

The company is building the largest AI-powered legal database in the world, and the backend has to ingest, structure and search a very large body of legal information.

The company has recently closed a Series A round and has more than 450 customers in Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. The team has 45+ people across Copenhagen HQ, Zurich, London and Hamburg, and works with a small, flat structure and high trust.

The role is based in the Copenhagen HQ.

The goal is to rebuild legal research so lawyers spend less time on fragmented sources and outdated systems.

The company has raised more than €17.5 million, including a €13.5 million Series A in October 2026, led by Alstin Capital, PROfounders and Scale Capital.

The team moves fast, debates its positions and ships. Good ideas are often implemented within hours rather than sprints.

Responsibilities

• Help keep the legislation and data volume stable while scaling services to ingest larger volumes of data more efficiently.

Requirements

• You have built and operated backend systems that real customers depend on.
• You can reason about data, APIs, performance and security, and explain the consequences of your decisions.
• You have integrated AI technologies such as OpenAI and Pinecone into production systems.
• Experience with vector databases, transformers, NLP and LLMs is a plus.
• The team's stack is TypeScript, NestJS, GraphQL, Postgres and Prisma, and it also uses OpenAI and Turbopuffer. Experience with these tools helps, especially what you have built with them and the decisions you made.
• You know which question to ask at the right moment, and you can find a smaller version worth shipping, explain its trade-offs and follow through once customers use it.
• You can slow down for decisions that deserve more time, push back when needed, and explain why the extra work matters.
• You are curious, willing to try new tools and approaches, and share useful findings and failed experiments with others.

Conditions

The role is based in the Copenhagen HQ and the company is usually office based, though everyone works from home from time to time.
