Senior Backend Engineer - Checkout (all genders)

Description

The team is building the checkout area of a commerce platform, which is one of the fastest-growing enterprise commerce platforms in the world and serves brands and retailers moving into direct-to-consumer sales.

Responsibilities

• Help shape a scalable software architecture for the API, which is currently written in PHP, and work on it together with your colleagues.
• Work with product managers and engineers to turn complex business requirements into clean, idiomatic Go code, so features are well designed and ship on schedule.
• Apply Test-Driven Development, pair programming and automated CI/CD pipelines to keep code quality and team speed high.
• Pick the right tool for each problem, making good use of Go's concurrency and performance without following rules rigidly.
• Own technical initiatives from start to finish, with your ideas taken seriously.
• Mentor other developers through code reviews and working sessions, and explore modern tooling such as AI coding assistants.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on backend engineering experience, with a strong focus on modern PHP (8+) and frameworks such as Symfony or Laravel.
• Deep experience writing clean, idiomatic Go and using its native concurrency primitives (goroutines, channels) to build high-throughput, low-latency APIs.
• Solid understanding of core engineering principles such as SOLID and clean architecture, and of distributed system design.
• Strong experience optimizing data and caching layers with MySQL (indexing, query tuning) and Redis (caching patterns, data structures).
• Hands-on experience with, or a real interest in, GenAI tools for streamlining development or building modern product features.
• You solve problems on your own, from initial design through to production deployment, including complex technical tasks.
• You communicate well in English, work well in a team, care about code quality, and help colleagues grow.
