Engineering Manager (m/f/d)

Description

The company is Europe's largest e-pharmacy, and this role leads several cross-functional engineering teams that build customer-facing products and internal platforms.

The teams build and run cloud-native, microservice-based applications. Each product team owns its services end to end and uses modern engineering practices, automation, observability and data to improve what it ships.

You will work closely with Product and business stakeholders to shape solutions that deliver value for customers and the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, coach and grow several engineering teams, building a culture that is inclusive, feels safe to speak up, and takes ownership, accountability and continuous improvement seriously.
• Set a clear engineering agenda based on what each team does well, where it struggles and where it can grow.
• Work with Product Managers to set priorities that balance customer value, business needs, delivery commitments and technical quality.
• Make priorities and ownership clear, spot risks early, raise them quickly, and make sure commitments are delivered reliably.
• Give engineers regular feedback, support their career development and mentoring, and handle performance management.
• Set technical direction, help teams find and fix root causes, and push them toward simple, maintainable solutions, without working as an individual contributor.
• Work with other engineering leaders and stakeholders, resolve conflicts constructively, and lead initiatives that span several teams.
• Use data and measurable results to improve delivery, reliability, cost efficiency, team effectiveness and customer impact.

Requirements

• You have led multiple engineering teams in a product-oriented setting.
• You have a solid record of setting direction, driving execution and delivering measurable results.
• You enjoy coaching and mentoring engineers and seeing them grow.
• You have enough technical depth to recognise strong work, challenge decisions constructively and guide teams to sound choices.
• You lead in a proactive, structured way and take strong ownership of outcomes and follow-through.
• You communicate well and build trust and working partnerships across Engineering, Product, Design, Data and the business.
• You are familiar with cloud-native architectures, modern software engineering practices and agile product development.
• Experience in e-commerce is a plus but not required.
