Senior AI/ML Engineer

Description

Senior AI/ML engineer role in the science category, full time and a regular position, with the company's research teams.

The role suits an experienced engineer who wants difficult problems and has worked in research teams prototyping and building AI/ML algorithms.

You will help develop algorithms across object detection and classification, natural language processing, time series prediction and classification, reinforcement learning, and large language models.

Responsibilities

• Write and implement machine learning algorithms as one member of a small team spanning several disciplines.
• Analyze large datasets from several domains, including images, text, time series, and graph data.
• Read recent research papers and apply the useful methods in your work.
• Write technical documentation and user guides.
• Understand the training and deployment pipelines, including the AWS services they rely on.
• Train and mentor other team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience developing AI/ML systems.
• Working knowledge of Python and libraries such as PyTorch, Lightning, OpenCV, NumPy, and Polars.
• Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning.
• Experience with deep learning architectures.
• Experience working on a team that uses version control, such as git, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
• Willingness to obtain and keep an active TS/SCI U.S. Government security clearance, which must be granted before the start date.
• Desired: master's (MS) or PhD in a relevant technical field.

• Desired: experience with LLMs, Transformers, YOLO, GANs, and reinforcement learning.

Conditions

Full-time, regular employment with up to 10% local travel.

Salary depends on several factors, including location, federal contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant prior experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.

Because the role can be filled from more than one location, the posted range is a national average.

Proposed salary range: $82,100 to $172,400.

The position depends on funding and may not be filled right away. It reflects roles the company regularly has open, and applicants may be considered for other openings.
