Description

The company builds the tools and APIs that let developers connect people's financial accounts to their apps, working with thousands of companies, including several Fortune 500 firms and many of the largest banks.

The network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK and Europe. The company was founded in 2013, is headquartered in San Francisco, and has offices in New York, Seattle, Washington D.C., Raleigh, London and Amsterdam.

This is the first dedicated Sales Engineer role for Regulated Industries. You will work as the technical lead alongside Enterprise Account Executives and help build this function from scratch across Public Sector, Education, Healthcare and Life Sciences, and Utilities.

You will help customers and ecosystem partners turn the company's solutions into real use cases for payments, identity, fraud, onboarding and income verification. You will also work with cross-functional teams to define the playbooks and go-to-market approach that will drive growth in these markets.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead technical advisor from first discovery call through solution design, evaluation, technical win and handoff after the sale.
  • Work with Account Executives to show how the technical capabilities create business value in regulated industries.
  • Lead discovery sessions, demos, architecture design, and RFIs and RFPs for payments, account verification, onboarding, income and fraud workflows.
  • Run hands-on API pilots and proofs of concept, setting success criteria, finding gaps and advising on integration trade-offs.
  • Raise product, privacy, security and compliance requirements early and bring in the right specialists for review.
  • Create reusable solution guides, reference architectures and enablement materials that support partner integrations and later adoption.
  • Help shape vertical strategy and product feedback together with Sales, Product, Partnerships and Marketing.
  • Work with Implementation and the wider SE team to make handoffs smooth, drive adoption and share best practices.

Requirements

  • You have 7+ years of customer-facing experience in technical sales, solutions engineering or enterprise consulting.
  • You have 3+ years working with one or more regulated industries, such as Public Sector, Healthcare, Education, Utilities or similar.
  • Optional: experience in fintech, payments, identity, fraud or income verification, or familiarity with public-sector procurement, systems integrators, or healthcare platforms such as RCM and EHR systems.
  • You have led complex technical evaluations and worked strategically with Account Executives on pursuits involving many stakeholders.
  • You have solid knowledge of APIs and web or mobile architecture, and can build demos, solution diagrams and integration guidance.
  • You have strong discovery and communication skills and care about the customer, linking technical choices to business outcomes.
  • You can pick up new sectors, work through ambiguity and test whether a product fits the market.
  • You use good judgment when working with Product, Partnerships, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Security and commercial stakeholders.
  • You can build reusable technical assets and support partner-led integrations and adoption.
  • You are willing and able to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • The company wants a diverse team that cares about a more equitable financial ecosystem, and it values qualifications gained from both work and life experience, so apply even if you do not match every point above.

Conditions

Travel is up to 25% of the time.

Benefits

  • Equity and/or commission may be offered, depending on the position.
  • Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision and 401(k).
  • Pay is set by factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience and skillset, and location. Pay and benefits may change at any time, in line with the terms of any applicable plans.
