Description

You will join the Practice Management group in the Litigation Support Division, which runs the agency's matter management system (Litify ELM (LegalStratus) on the Salesforce platform), its reporting, and the document management system (iManage/Filesite).

Your main work is designing and building reports and interfaces to and from the matter management system, including validating and testing them.

Title code: 13631, Computer Associate (Software).

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain and check reports by writing and testing front-end queries, CRM Analytics, Crystal Reports, SQL and SOQL.
  • Run reports, carry out quality assurance, resolve any problems you find, and send the results to end users.
  • Write technical and non-technical specifications, diagrams, logic flowcharts and documentation for reports and systems.
  • Spot data entry errors and help build processes that clean up and correct them so the data stays accurate and reliable.
  • Enter data into the matter management system, mainly through the front-end application, when needed.
  • Work with IT DBA staff and consultants to create and test configuration changes and database scripts.
  • For interfaces with internal systems and with outside parties, including other city agencies and outside firms that handle outsourced collections, test database scripts and interfaces, coordinating with those parties and with consultants or IT DBA staff to build or update interface code and packages.
  • Before any new data is imported into the matter management system through an interface, check it in lower environments using front-end queries, SOQL and SQL.
  • Write technical and non-technical interface specifications.
  • As part of the Practice Management team, identify issues, defects and enhancements in the matter management system.
  • Help write test plans and test fixes and upgrades in lower environments before they are applied.
  • Take on special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Either a bachelor's degree from an accredited college, with 24 semester credits in computer science or a related computer field (or completed alongside the degree), plus one year of full-time satisfactory computer software experience in any of these areas: computer systems development and analysis, applications programming, database administration, maintenance and support, systems programming, data communications, mainframe development, mobile development, or web development and design.
  • Or a four-year high school diploma or equivalent, plus five years of the full-time software experience described above.
  • Or a combination of education and experience equivalent to the options above, under these rules: 60 semester credits from an accredited college count as one year of experience, up to two years of the five years in the option above; and 24 semester credits in computer science or a related field from an accredited college or graduate school, or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited post-high-school technical school, count as one year of experience. In every case you need at least a four-year high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of the full-time experience described in the first option.
