Description

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary within a larger group and builds mesh network radio and waveform technology for mission-critical use on land, in the air and at sea.

Its customers include defense, law enforcement and public safety agencies worldwide, often working in harsh conditions.

This role reports to the Director of Quality and works within the Quality team.

It is a senior quality engineering position that drives strategic quality work across product development, production and the supplier network.

You will be the subject matter expert for quality systems, audits and compliance, and you will own calibration oversight, ESD program management and supplier quality performance.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and work with leadership to build quality into every stage of the product lifecycle.

Management may assign or change duties at any time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex root cause investigations, CAPA work and corrective actions that span departments and suppliers.
  • Run the calibration and test equipment program, keeping it compliant with ISO and AS9100 requirements and improving how equipment is used.
  • Act as the site's ESD Control Program Authority by setting standards, delivering training and leading compliance audits.
  • Plan and lead internal audits so the site is ready for external ISO 9001 and AS9100 audits and customer audits.
  • Work with engineering to set reliability requirements, qualification plans and accelerated life testing approaches.
  • Manage supplier quality, including supplier audits, issuing and closing SCARs, and maintaining supplier scorecards.
  • Write, review and keep current quality system documents such as procedures, work instructions and quality plans.
  • Build and report quality metrics for leadership, flagging key risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor and coach Quality Engineers I and II and inspection staff, guiding their technical work and career growth.
  • Represent Quality in customer meetings, audits and technical discussions as the subject matter expert.
  • Drive continuous improvement using tools such as Lean, Six Sigma and FMEA.
  • Take on other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of increasingly responsible quality engineering or related engineering work.
  • Proven leadership in running calibration programs, ESD compliance and internal audits.
  • Hands-on experience with supplier quality, SCAR handling and supplier audits.
  • Solid working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving outcomes without formal authority.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making, including advanced statistical analysis and risk management tools.
  • Expert knowledge of quality system documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Clear communication and leadership skills for working with executives, customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to balance strategic work with hands-on problem solving in a fast-moving setting.
  • Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance, or the ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.
  • U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident) required because of clients under U.S. federal contracts.
  • Preferred: Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • Preferred: experience in defense, aerospace or high-reliability electronics.
