Description

The company is looking for a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer for its Product Assurance team in Albuquerque, NM, in the Engineering and Technical Support category.

You will work largely on your own and keep the existing quality processes and procedures effective and up to date.

Your job is to confirm that products, processes, and deliverables meet customer specifications, contract terms, applicable Department of Defense standards, and the company's quality management system.

You will play a central part in keeping the company's AS9100 certification valid by making sure the quality management system stays compliant and keeps improving.

You will act as the company's main contact during the yearly third-party AS9100 audit, guiding the auditor, gathering records and staff, and closing out findings through verified corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Help build, update, and improve quality control systems for assigned products, processes, and programs.
  • Work with design engineering, purchasing, production, manufacturing engineering, and inspection staff so customer quality requirements are met.
  • Check design, manufacturing, test, and purchasing documents, such as statements of work, technical drawings, Technical Orders, and contract and purchasing terms, against applicable quality standards.
  • Plan and carry out audits and inspections of facilities, records, staff, equipment, and processes to find gaps and confirm quality and safety compliance.
  • Keep the AS9100 certification in place by tracking compliance with the standard and confirming the quality management system works as intended.
  • Write, revise, review, and improve quality processes, procedures, work instructions, forms, and records so they meet AS9100, customer, and contract obligations.
  • Prepare for and lead the annual third-party AS9100 audit as the main company contact, walking the auditor through processes, procedures, records, and daily operations.
  • Set audit dates, prepare supporting material, get employees and process owners involved, and reply to auditor requests on time.
  • Find root causes of quality problems and set up corrective and preventive actions to remove nonconformances and stop them returning.
  • Handle audit findings, observations, and corrective actions by running root cause analysis, tracking actions, verifying they are carried out and effective, and keeping proper records.
  • Advise on quality testing, inspection, analysis, and process improvement.
  • Provide independent quality oversight, suggest process controls and improvements, and keep production and delivery schedules protected while doing so.
  • Use Core Business Solutions quality management software or a similar quality management system.

Requirements

  • An active DoD Secret clearance.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field such as engineering, manufacturing, or quality assurance, or at least 10 years of experience in process control, control charts, acceptance sampling, and product quality control, preferably in a lead role.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards such as ISO or OSHA.
  • A thorough understanding of the AS9100 aerospace standard.
  • A thorough understanding of the company's quality management system, or the ability to learn it quickly.
  • The ability to read technical drawings and government and quality standards with skill.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong organization and close attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to report inspection and measurement results, collect and summarize quality data, keep records in matrix format, and present performance measures to management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and with Visio.
  • Desired: Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Desired: prior experience in an engineering or technical position.
