Description

The team builds software that helps the energy sector, from power generation to grid orchestration and consumption.

The work centres on electricity markets, critical IT systems, and a trading platform with near-real-time applications.

Projects span several sites and countries, so English communication, self-organisation, reporting, and sound decisions matter as much as technical skill.

If you like hard problems, careful solutions, and steady learning, this role could suit you.

Responsibilities

  • Design test cases, validation and acceptance test plans, and overall testing strategies.
  • Create and maintain testing documentation in Jira, Confluence, or qTest.
  • Set up test environments, tools, and software builds, including the final product, with build configuration, smoke tests, and baseline checks.
  • Run functional and non-functional tests.
  • Build and carry out test plans, then present the results.
  • Run regression tests and start corrective actions when required.
  • Work with developers and business analysts to fix problems, find root causes of defects, and log and track issues in Jira.
  • Give feedback on software usability and behaviour.
  • Look after test environments.
  • Keep learning independently and pass knowledge on to the team.
  • Independently test large modules or components and own features, feature sets, or whole feature areas.
  • Support your own team and others, lead quality engineering discussions, and mentor junior quality engineers.
  • Be available for business travel.

Requirements

  • Desired: experience across functional, regression, smoke, and sanity testing, plus non-functional testing.
  • Desired: experience with bug tracking and reporting tools such as Jira.
  • Desired: ability to define a problem, gather data, establish facts, reach sound conclusions, and propose solutions.
  • Desired: strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and openly.
  • Desired: working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Unix.
  • Desired: basic experience with relational databases and SQL or PL/SQL.
  • Desired: experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Desired: experience testing UI and web UI.
  • Desired: fluent written and spoken English.
  • Desired: experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, HP Quick Test Professional, or equivalent.
  • Desired: Java background, with the ability or familiarity to code in Core Java.
  • Desired: ability to write scripts in Bash, KSH, Python, or Groovy.
  • Desired: experience with CI tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.
