Description

Title: QA Tech, paying $34.60/HR on a continental schedule.

The company is expanding its North American manufacturing network. The new dairy production facility in Peterborough, Ontario, focuses on high-quality, responsible food production.

As a Quality Technician, you help confirm that products meet the standards expected for the company's brands. You keep the process sound by combining lab science with day-to-day plant operations, and your work supports safety, continuous improvement and environmental care. The role suits a detail-minded person who works well at pace, asks questions, takes ownership and cares about quality. The company has operated for 130+ years, and the team works with advanced technology in a cooperative, growth-focused setting.

Responsibilities

  • Test ingredient, product and environmental samples in the lab, and run, calibrate and service the analytical instruments with precision.
  • Carry out routine audits, checks and sampling on the production line to confirm compliance with standards and test plans.
  • Use SAP to trace batches, record production data and keep clear visibility across each run from start to finish.
  • Prepare test solutions, media and reagents to specification, following Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Log analytical and microbiological results accurately, and keep records and reports that hold up to audit and regulation.
  • Assess finished dairy products by taste and by look, judging consistency, flavor and other quality traits.
  • Flag unusual results or possible deviations quickly to the right people, and help verify root causes or repeat tests.
  • Track lab supply stock and order what is needed so testing never stops.
  • Promote safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in the lab and on the floor, and keep workspaces clean and orderly.
  • Help train and onboard new Quality Assurance staff so procedures stay consistent.
  • Work with production and engineering to improve product quality, process reliability and efficiency.
  • Take on other quality tasks that match department priorities.

Requirements

  • A two-year college diploma in a field such as Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology or Chemistry, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on work in a manufacturing lab or quality setting.
  • Proven skill running and maintaining complex analytical and microbiological equipment.
  • Clear written and spoken communication to share results and work across teams.
  • Basic math and computing skills for lab and plant tasks.
  • Experience with SAP or a similar enterprise system used for production quality tracking.
  • Comfort with digital tools and technology that automate processes and protect data accuracy.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts as production schedules require.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, climb ladders or catwalks, and work in confined or refrigerated spaces.
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds when needed.
  • Interest in cross-training and working with other departments toward a shared focus on quality and safety.
