Description

The team is a joint group of US Navy and company staff that tests future capabilities on an unmanned air vehicle program, working to do it efficiently.

The role supports data collection and technical services on the air vehicle and ground control stations, plus research and procurement of components for life cycle sustainment.

The position is in the ground segment team and is offered at either the System Test Engineer or Principal System Test Engineer level, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with company and customer flight test engineers, flight test conductors, flight crews, ground operations technicians, and software developers.
• Act as the link between the US Navy and company ground segment staff, including system administrators, responsible engineers, network engineers, and flight test engineers.
• Report to the ground segment manager of the integrated test team for all ground segment engineering testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation.
• Carry out engineering test execution and evaluation of system functional requirements, covering detailed test requirements, acceptance test procedures, requests for test, and ground and flight test events.
• Review engineering modifications with a multidisciplinary team, and give analysis and feedback during modification, maintenance, and ad hoc test planning.
• Support resolution of computing system deficiencies with network, software, and systems engineers, system administrators, and aircrew.
• Provide engineering-level evaluation and reach-back support for the ground segments as needed.
• Prepare test variances and test worksheets following engineering direction.
• Give engineering adjudication for interactive electronic technical manuals.
• Develop strategies and improvements that make testing more efficient.

Requirements

• System Test Engineer, basic: a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of experience, or a STEM master's degree with 0 years of experience.
• Principal System Test Engineer, basic: a bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of experience.
• Both levels, basic: an active US Government Secret clearance that is in scope or currently enrolled in CE, with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance within a reasonable time to meet business needs.
• Both levels, basic: the ability to obtain and maintain an active CI polygraph within a reasonable time, as determined by the company.
• Both levels, basic: the ability to obtain and maintain program access within a reasonable time for business needs.
• Both levels, basic: experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Both levels, basic: the ability to work odd shifts and occasional overtime as needed.
• Preferred: an active TS/SCI/CI poly clearance.
• Preferred: experience testing and evaluating computing systems in a networked environment.
• Preferred: a current Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification.
• Preferred: experience with Windows and Linux domain architecture.
• Preferred: knowledge of Windows AD, LDAP, VMware, and SAN storage systems.
• Preferred: basic scripting experience.
• Preferred: familiarity with XML, Java, C, and C.
• Preferred: the ability to communicate clearly at every level of the organization, with internal and external customers, in writing and speech.

Conditions

Based at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, or willing to relocate to the NAS Patuxent River area. Relocation assistance may be available.

An active Secret clearance is required to start.

Travel of up to 25% to support business needs in CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Odd shifts and occasional overtime may be required.

Primary level salary range: $91,800.00 to $137,600.00. Secondary level salary range: $114,000.00 to $171,000.00. These are general guidelines; the company considers scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions when setting base pay.
