About IONOS

At IONOS, we don't just manage servers – we shape the digital future for more than 6.2 million customers worldwide with our solutions. As Europe's leading hosting provider and a pioneer in independent cloud solutions, we are building next-generation infrastructure – from sovereign cloud architectures and high-performance GPU clusters to integrated AI automation tools.

What drives us is digital sovereignty for Europe and real impact for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) as well as large enterprises. We work in agile teams, rely on transparent structures, and believe that excellence and innovation only emerge through true team spirit.

Ready for your next step? Become part of IONOS and grow with us.

Area of Responsibility At IONOS Cloud, we develop mission-critical cloud infrastructure and modern management platforms. We are looking for a software engineer with a strong quality mindset who embraces modern AI-assisted engineering to radically accelerate how we test, validate, and deliver our cloud applications.

In this role, you won't just write test scripts by hand—you will leverage AI tooling and agentic workflows ("vibe coding", LLM-assisted scaffolding, automated triage) to automate test processes, generate living specs, and eliminate repetitive QA friction across our cloud control panels, APIs, and microservices.

Tasks

AI-Augmented Test Automation: Leverage AI to rapidly scaffold, maintain, and expand automated test suites across IONOS Cloud applications and APIs.

Automate the QA Lifecycle: Implement AI-driven solutions to generate synthetic test data, analyze failure logs, and streamline triage.

Spec-Driven Development with AI: Use API schemas (OpenAPI/Swagger) and functional specifications as the foundation to prompt, generate, and validate tests and code before features are merged.

Application & Platform Validation: Design end-to-end and integration test frameworks (using Python, Pytest, and modern API/UI runners) targeting cloud control panels, backend microservices, and provisioning workflows.

CI/CD Integration & Pipeline Health: Embed automated test workflows into GitLab CI/GitHub Actions, keeping feedback loops fast and ruthlessly eliminating flaky tests.

Continuous Process Innovation: Continuously evaluate and pilot emerging AI tools, agents, and frameworks that enhance team productivity and system reliability.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or software development in test (SDET).
  • AI-First Mindset: Daily, hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLMs to write code, generate test data, or automate routine workflows. You understand how to prompt effectively, review generated output critically, and bypass tedious boilerplate. An experience in building custom CLI utilities would be a plus.
  • Strong Automation Core: Solid coding skills and extensive experience with test automation. Experience in Pytest, Typescript or contract testing e.g. Pact would be a plus.
  • Spec-Based API Testing: Experience in testing RESTful APIs and distributed microservices derived directly from formal specifications.
  • Cloud & Container Native: Comfortable working with Linux environments, Docker containers, Kubernetes, and core cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, networking, and virtual machines).
  • CI/CD Expertise: Practical experience integrating automated test stages into GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent CI pipelines.
  • Quality Advocacy: Strong critical-thinking skills with a builder mentality—you proactively find edge cases, challenge requirements early, and optimize developer feedback loops.
  • Security Clearance (SÜ2): Willingness to undergo extended security vetting ( SÜ2 ).

Benefits

  • Hybrid working model.
  • Flexible working hours through trust-based working hours.
  • At some locations a subsidized canteen and various free drinks.
  • Modern office space with very good transport connections.
  • Various employee discounts for activities and products.
  • Employee events such as summer and winter parties, as well as workshops.
  • Numerous training and development opportunities.
  • Various health offers, such as sports and health courses.
  • Application Note
  • We value diversity and welcome all applications – regardless of, for example, gender, nationality, ethnic or social origin, religion, disability, age as well as sexual orientation and identity, physical characteristics, marital status or any other irrelevant factor subject to applicable law.
