Project Manager – Plastic & Resin

This role sits in the Plastic & Resin category. You will lead sourcing and product development work, connecting engineering, procurement, and outside manufacturing partners from early concept through production ramp-up. The focus is on supplier transitions, tool builds, resin qualification, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

• Run category projects from start to finish, such as tooling transfers, dual-sourcing suppliers, resin substitutions, and new product launches, keeping deliverables on schedule and within budget and finding cost savings along the way.
• Assess injection molders and resin compounders on technical ability, press capacity, tool maintenance practices, cycle times, and quality control systems.
• Work with engineering during the design phase, offering input on manufacturing and materials to improve feasibility and lower cost.
• Lead Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VA/VE) work, reviewing mold cavitation, cycle efficiency, regrind allowances, and raw material index pass-throughs such as CDI and ICIS.
• Coordinate timelines, risk matrices, and deliverables across Procurement, Quality, Plant Operations, and R&D.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
• 5+ years of project management or engineering experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, or plastics category sourcing.
• Working knowledge of commodity and engineering resins and their material limits, plus familiarity with injection molding equipment, tool design, hot runner systems, and Scientific Molding principles.
• Proven ability to run several complex technical projects at once, track milestones, and communicate with stakeholders across functions.
• Familiarity with how resin market prices are set and with standard plastics quality standards.

Conditions
