Description

The company's North American battery energy storage business, part of its Grid Integration group, needs a project manager to run large engineering, procurement and construction projects.

The work centres on projects that make power networks safer and more reliable while reducing environmental impact.

You take a project from contract award through to commercial operation, keeping schedule, budget, quality and safety on track with engineers, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.

The projects include utility-scale and behind-the-meter energy storage across several applications, in a segment of the power industry that is growing.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain execution plans covering scope, schedule, resourcing, targets and deliverables.
  • Track project finances, including budgets, forecasts, cash flow, margins and overall project health.
  • Identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Handle scope changes, claims, negotiations and approvals under each contract's terms.
  • Administer contracts and lead project closeout.
  • Work with supply chain colleagues on procurement strategy, subcontracting, bid reviews and awards.
  • Act as the main customer contact and deliver reporting that keeps communication clear and customers satisfied.
  • Organise project quality work, resolve non-conformities and support internal and external audits.
  • Partner with EHS teams to write and enforce project safety plans throughout execution.
  • Keep the project compliant with external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.

Requirements

  • You must already be authorised to work for the company in the United States.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, project management or construction management.
  • 8+ years leading complex electrical projects, including large or mega-scale ones.
  • Experience working under a range of contract models.
  • Strong financial and commercial management skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, MS Project and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, including experience running multinational and remote teams. You must be willing to travel 25% or more, both domestically and abroad.
  • Knowledge of BESS project delivery and the relevant codes and standards, such as IEEE 1547/2800, NEC, NFPA 855, UL 9540/9540A and AHJ permitting processes.
  • Experience with substation, switchyard or brownfield projects would be a plus.
