Description

The company is hiring a Senior Project Manager to lead its Ports & Marine engineering team in Houston, TX. The role suits an experienced civil or structural engineer who understands port and marine infrastructure design and construction and can lead several disciplines on one project.

You will give technical direction, run high-profile projects and mentor engineers who deliver high-quality solutions for clients.

The team has over 500 maritime specialists working on container terminals, LNG facilities, waterfront developments, cruise and ferry terminals, marinas, harbors, and coastal schemes such as beach development and coastal protection.

The company is a Fortune 500 firm with fiscal 2025 revenue of $16.1 billion and more than 50,000 staff worldwide, working on projects from local community work to global schemes.

Responsibilities

  • Bring solid technical knowledge across the relevant engineering disciplines.

  • Manage several projects that draw on the full range of engineering services the company offers.
  • Coordinate project and technical tasks across multiple projects running at the same time.

  • Present clearly and communicate well in English, and write strong technical content and proposals.
  • Provide structural and civil engineering expertise on ports and marine projects across the west region.
  • Help win new client relationships and deepen existing ones.
  • Understand clients' commercial drivers and manage project risk and profitability.
  • Lead teams well, working on your own initiative and staying proactive.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree (BA or BS) plus 8 years of relevant experience in structural, civil or maritime engineering, or equivalent experience and education.
  • A valid driver's license and a passing Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check under company policy.
  • Preferred: Professional Engineer registration, with Texas preferred.
  • Preferred: 10 years of related design work on seaport infrastructure such as container terminal, dry bulk and liquid bulk wharves and uplands, with clear career progression.
  • Preferred: Experience leading projects to required quality, schedule and budget targets.
  • Preferred: Accountable for strengthening client relationships on ongoing projects and growing sales and bookings from local clients.
  • Preferred: Houston resident, or established residency in the area.
  • Preferred: MS in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Preferred: Experience on ports, marine or waterfront projects.
  • Preferred: Skill in producing engineering drawings and visual aids in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Bentley MicroStation.
  • Preferred: Strong project management, including budgeting, scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Preferred: Excellent communication and leadership.
  • Preferred: Prior work with public agencies, private clients and major port authorities.
  • Preferred: Strong business development, including proposal writing and client negotiation.
