The company's internship program offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, mentorship from some of the industry's brightest minds, and the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to real projects. We seek interns who demonstrate strong academic performance, engagement beyond the classroom, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in the company's mission.
As an intern in the Infrastructure Operations team within Fleet Operations, you will support the critical infrastructure that keeps the company’s autonomous robotaxi fleet charged, serviced, and operating seamlessly. You will bridge operations, facilities, and engineering to tackle complex infrastructure readiness challenges across multiple depot sites and multi-generation vehicle platforms.
In this Role, You Will…
Improve Vehicle-to-Storage Ratios: Investigate and prototype a partner "flex-capacity" parking program to optimize parking ratios—surveying partner APIs for overflow-space booking, scoping commercial/retail partners for overnight capacity, and aligning with security and legal on access controls.
Assess Multi-Platform Depot Readiness: Map charging, service-bay, and diagnostic requirements across the company’s vehicle platforms (VH6, VH6+, VH6W, VH7, VT1, VL3) against national site capacity to produce site-by-site gap analyses.
Build Adverse-Weather Return-to-Base (RTB) Plans: Design infrastructure planning for severe weather and contingency recalls, prototyping tools (such as an Overwatch-integrated dashboard) to monitor safe-parking capacity in real time during mass RTB events.
Future-Proof Depot Infrastructure: Evaluate corrosion-resistant cabling standards, evaluate alternate charging connectors (e.g., NACS), scope automated vehicle inspection system integrations, and contribute to the long-term site build roadmap.
Internship Requirements
Currently working towards an MBA, Master’s in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Engineering Management, or related field.
Good academic standing and enrolled at an accredited college or university throughout the internship.
Expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
Able to commit to a full-time, 12-week internship.
Ability to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.
Interns at the company may not use proprietary information for thesis or publication outside of the company.
Technical Qualifications
Proven track record of managing complex projects with diverse cross-functional stakeholders.
Advanced proficiency in data organization, manipulation, and modeling in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Strong structured problem-solving, operational planning, and analytical capabilities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize findings for executive leadership.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth, and collaborative environment.
Bonus Qualifications
Prior professional experience in the transportation, mobility, logistics, or automotive sectors.
Experience building complex financial, cost, or capacity models.
Background in operational strategy, program management, or supply chain infrastructure.
The monthly salary range for this position is $5,500 to $9,500. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education. Additional benefits may include medical insurance and a housing stipend (relocation assistance offered based on eligibility).
About the company
The company is developing the first ground-up, fully autonomous vehicle fleet and the supporting ecosystem required to bring this technology to market. Sitting at the intersection of robotics, machine learning, and design, the company aims to provide the next generation of mobility-as-a-service in urban environments. We’re looking for top talent that shares our passion and wants to be part of a fast-moving and highly execution-oriented team.
