Description

The company's Space Sector is hiring a Program Manager 1 to work in the Space Superiority Rapid Innovation Office on counterspace mission capabilities.

This is an entry-level role for someone who wants to learn profit and loss leadership. Depending on program size, you will either manage a smaller program or serve as Deputy on a larger one.

You will guide a mixed-specialty team through every phase of a program, from customer shaping and proposal work through startup, execution and contract closeout.

The main goal is to deliver contract requirements on cost and on schedule, meet all technical requirements, and build close customer relationships that support value creation.

Relocation assistance may be available. A SCI clearance is required for start. Travel is 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Space Sector leadership and your assigned staff to build and share an organizational vision and roadmap.
  • Build customer relationships that lead to more work within the customer community.
  • Find new business through long-term strategy, capture planning, proposals and business plans.
  • Set up an efficient program structure and processes.
  • Plan and assign program resources, including workforce planning.
  • Lead cross-functional Integrated Program Teams to hit cost, schedule and technical targets.
  • Measure and report program performance to the customer and company leadership.
  • Give clear, persuasive presentations to customers, executives and other stakeholders.
  • Take part in negotiating contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones and key terms.
  • Set design concepts, criteria and engineering work for research, development, integration and test.
  • Identify, distribute, track and close out program requirements.
  • Establish and manage the program baseline and subordinate baselines.
  • Keep budget baselines on track using Earned Value Management or similar cost and schedule control tools.
  • Manage government or customer-supplied property and information, such as GFE and CFE.
  • Manage suppliers to meet program goals.
  • Make sure the team follows internal processes, policies and applicable industry standards.
  • Make sure the team understands contract scope and handles changes through the control board.
  • Develop master plans and schedules and keep to them.
  • Run risk and opportunity management, covering identification, mitigation and realization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 5 years, or master's degree plus 3 years, supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers or subproject management in another industry.
  • Hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance now, be able to keep it, and be able to gain additional special accesses.
  • Three years of experience completing relevant tasks on schedule, at cost and to formal requirements, such as designing, manufacturing, testing or operating a component, subsystem or system.
  • Three years of proven success leading high-performance teams or organizations toward a shared goal.
  • Travel up to 20% of the month.
  • Business acumen: apply business and financial concepts, tools and processes to program decisions and performance.
  • Communication: manage communication with staff and stakeholders so program information is defined, shared, understood, stored and easy to retrieve.
  • Issue resolution: spot program impacts early, work through them systematically, and resolve conflicts quickly at every level.
  • Preferred: experience leading teams of at least 4 people and managing scope or activities over $5M, possibly as part of a larger team.
  • Preferred: undergraduate or graduate technical degree in science, math or engineering from a nationally accredited institution.
  • Preferred: experience on space system programs, such as satellites, space-to-ground communications, command and control, or space vehicle operations.
  • Preferred: experience with offensive or defensive counterspace architectures, missions, technologies or customers.
  • Preferred: capture management, understanding customer technical, financial, political and cultural factors and shaping expectations with a solution that benefits the company.
  • Preferred: set a technical performance baseline and use it to track key measures and assess program status.
  • Preferred: define, document, analyze, trace, prioritize and confirm requirements across the full program life cycle.
  • Preferred: coordinate interdependent program activities and processes from start to finish.
  • Preferred: take a structured, forward-looking approach to risks and opportunities, and plan how to resolve or limit their impact.
  • Preferred: build and run program plans and cost and schedule baselines that meet contract terms and stakeholder expectations.
  • Preferred: seek and act on customer input, show energy toward customer needs, and build strong ties with partners and key suppliers.

Conditions

Base salary range is $133,000.00 to $199,600.00, set by scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions.

Depending on the role, you may be eligible for overtime, shift differential and a discretionary bonus.

The application window is estimated at 20 days from the posting date, and may close earlier or later depending on business needs and candidate availability.

The company is an equal opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and share company results.
  • Vice President and Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
  • Health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off for vacation and personal business.
