Production Support Engineer (Cloud & App Ops) - freelance

Description

The team supports production systems mainly for the European Institutions market, across international projects.

The company has over 8,900 staff across Europe and builds digital solutions for EU institutions and public and private organisations.

The projects are large in scale and affect millions of citizens worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Keep production systems stable, available, fast and secure in every environment.
• Handle second-level incidents, service requests and technical faults, resolving them within agreed service levels.
• Watch application and infrastructure health with observability and monitoring tools, and act early on alerts and events.
• Carry out corrective, preventive, adaptive and maintenance work so services keep running and meet operational standards.
• Take part in changes, releases and deployments by validating them, planning rollbacks and testing.
• Write and update runbooks, knowledge articles, operational documentation and incident records.
• Work with DevSecOps, database administrators, architects and operational stakeholders.
• Support middleware and integration platforms such as APIs, messaging, identity management, web infrastructure and content management.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, software engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years in IT operations or systems support, including mission-critical applications such as banking or telecom systems, with at least 2 years in an L2 role.
• A solid grasp of ITIL service management, especially incident, problem, change, release and knowledge management.
• Hands-on work with Linux or Unix, container platforms, and monitoring or observability tools.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, configuration management and automation.
• Experience supporting APIs, middleware, integration platforms, identity and access management, or web technologies.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Knowing French counts as an advantage.
• Certificates such as ITIL Foundation, Linux Administration or Kubernetes, or equivalent, are an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation and problem-solving skills.

Conditions

Freelance contract.

Onsite or hybrid work, in Strasbourg only.

Around 40% of the time goes to on-call services.
