Description

This role leads a product in the personal loans risk decisioning and eligibility area, covering its strategy, key decisions and outcomes for customers, colleagues and the bank, within service level agreements, regulatory compliance, risk management and controls.

You will lead the Enhanced Risk Assessment platform, running current business as usual operations while overseeing the move to a new technology platform.

You will be the subject matter expert for your product or proposition team and advise stakeholders at every level on how existing and new products and their customer and colleague journeys apply.

You will be a Vice President level role, which may be people leadership or an individual contributor role, with the expectations set out below.

Responsibilities

  • Build customer-level strategies and solutions shaped around what customers need.
  • Shape product propositions or service strategy, set priorities for the outcomes needed, and lead their delivery.
  • Develop different commercial and business models based on a clear understanding of the financial drivers of the P&L for your segment, proposition or journey.
  • Assess technical feasibility, legal compliance and potential risks before a new product is developed and launched.
  • Track market trends and gather feedback from colleagues and target customers through prototypes, user testing and beta programmes, then refine the product or process before launch.
  • Plan full launch activity and technical deployments, including rollout timelines, marketing, training and communication channels.
  • Monitor adoption, usage, customer satisfaction including complaints, and revenue against agreed goals.
  • Contribute to or set strategy, define requirements and recommend change, plan resources, budgets and policies, maintain processes, drive continuous improvement and escalate policy breaches.
  • If you manage a team, define roles, plan the department's future needs, coach performance and contribute to pay decisions, while balancing short and long term goals within budget and schedule.
  • If you lead people, show the four LEAD behaviours: listen and be authentic, energise and inspire, align across the enterprise, and develop others.
  • As an individual contributor, act as the technical authority in your discipline, lead multi-year collaborative assignments, bring in other specialisms where needed, and train and coach less experienced specialists.
  • Advise senior leaders and functional teams on the impact and alignment of work across functions.
  • Assess and reduce risk to support the control and governance agenda, and take responsibility for risk and controls in your team's work.
  • Understand how the organisation works and keep up to date with business activity and strategy by working with business-aligned support areas.
  • Solve complex problems through detailed analysis, comparing alternatives and drawing on extensive research to develop new solutions.
  • Build trusted partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, using influence and negotiation to reach business objectives.
  • Show the company Values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship) and the company Mindset (Empower, Challenge and Drive).

Requirements

  • Considerable understanding of credit risk decisioning.
  • Experience with technology platforms and Agile delivery.
  • Solid knowledge of risk and control management.
  • Experience working with technology teams.
  • Experience of people leadership, as the role includes management responsibilities.
  • Experience of lending products.
  • A good technology delivery background.
  • Experience working in agile environments.
  • Ability to drive complex change.
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to balance technology, risk and operational priorities.
  • Desirable: risk decision analytics.
  • Desirable: working in a regulated environment.
  • Desirable: project management experience.
  • You may be assessed on critical skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and job-specific technical skills.
