Description

You will own the what and why of the company's quantum sensing measurement systems, turning customer and market needs into product requirements that engineering can turn into specifications.

You will set the roadmap for the product line, beginning with its first model, and sit between customers (foundries, IDMs, OSATs and failure analysis labs) and every engineering discipline to decide what gets built and in what order.

The company was founded in 2022 as a TU Munich spin-off and is based in Munich. Its quantum sensors map three-dimensional current in multi-layer chips quickly, helping customers debug chips and speed up yield analysis.

The team of over 70 includes physicists, engineers, data scientists and other specialists, and works directly with major semiconductor manufacturers. Nine of the world's 10 largest semiconductor manufacturers are engaged, with systems deployed in Europe, the United States and Asia.

The company is investing €152 million in the world's first production facility for quantum sensing-based semiconductor inspection tools, supported under the European Chips Act. It is backed by top-tier deep tech investors, semiconductor experts and strategic public programs. The technology is already in production use, not 10 years away.

Responsibilities

  • Define prioritized, solution-neutral product requirements from customer, field, market and internal input, including serviceability, modularity and configuration, manufacturability and cost targets.
  • Set up the tools and workflow for capturing, tracing and maintaining requirements, from customer need through specification to verification, including change control across releases. This is a core task in your first months.
  • Own and maintain the roadmap for the first product: decide what gets built and in what order, make trade-offs explicit, and agree decisions with the management team.
  • Work with the applications team on customer interactions and evaluations at fabs, IDMs, OSATs and failure analysis labs, and turn what you learn into requirements.
  • Write acceptance criteria for each requirement from the customer's point of view so it can be tested, and link them to evaluation and qualification plans.
  • Agree scope and timing with Product Development and hand requirements to engineering, stating the need and the reasoning while leaving the approach to each discipline.
  • Support go-to-market with input on positioning, pricing, launch readiness and documentation scope, together with the applications, operations and product development teams.

Requirements

  • Several years of product management for complex hardware or capital equipment, preferably in semiconductors, metrology or a similar deep-tech field.
  • A record of writing clear product requirements that engineers can build from.
  • The ability to talk with customers and engineers and translate between them.
  • Enough technical depth to discuss the design with engineers in mechanics, optics, electronics/RF and software.
  • Structured prioritization, with trade-offs made explicit and backed by reasoning.
  • Hiring is based on demonstrated skill rather than a specific degree, though a technical or scientific background is typical.
  • Also valued: semiconductor knowledge in fabs, IDMs, OSATs, inspection, metrology or failure analysis.
  • Also valued: familiarity with SEMI standards and fab tool integration, such as S2/S8, E10 and SECS/GEM.
  • Also valued: experience selecting or setting up a requirements management tool, such as Jama, Polarion or CodeBeamer.
  • Also valued: a working understanding of quantum sensing, optics or precision instrumentation.
