Description

The company provides payments, data and financial products in one solution to large businesses, and is a leading financial technology platform.

Businesses run on the company's platform. They manage their operations in its portal, embed its components in their own interfaces, and send shoppers through its checkout, so from their side it all looks like one product.

Many teams build that product in parallel, and whether it feels unified depends on the shared foundations they use. This role shapes those foundations so teams can move faster and merchants get a consistent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design system and the technical frameworks that other teams use to build customer experiences.
  • Decide what to build next across UI components and the technical infrastructure behind customer experiences, and treat the engineers and designers who use them as customers.
  • Hold every component to a high standard, since merchants, their users and their shoppers will see it.
  • Define what good interface work looks like and set up reviews and governance that teams see as support rather than obstacles.
  • Encourage teams to adopt the shared foundations while they keep their own roadmaps and priorities.
  • Set clear metrics for adoption, speed and experience quality, and use them to decide where to invest and when to change direction.
  • Work closely with engineering and design in your team, and with product, design and engineering leads across the company.
  • Learn how the engineers and designers using your foundations work, and how the merchants and shoppers using their products are affected.

Requirements

  • You have built products whose users are developers or other teams, and you know they need clear contracts, careful change and no breaking changes for downstream users.
  • You have a sharp eye for interface quality and notice the details end customers see. You can hold a component to a high bar and explain why that matters.
  • You have gotten teams you do not manage to adopt something in a highly autonomous, bottom-up setting.
  • You can tell when a standard speeds teams up and when it gets in their way, and you handle the trade-off between the two.
  • You can take an open-ended problem, turn it into a clear plan, and ship quickly across several teams.
  • You set clear metrics and use data to agree on priorities, measure impact and change course when needed.
  • You want to understand both the engineers who build on the platform and the merchants and shoppers at the end of it.
  • Bonus: experience owning a design system, component library or UI framework.
  • Bonus: a background in frontend engineering or product design.
  • Bonus: experience in payments, fintech or another regulated domain.

Conditions

The role is based in the Amsterdam office. The company is office-first and values in-person collaboration, so it does not offer remote-only roles.

The company aims to reply to applications within 5 business days. The interview process usually takes about 4 weeks but can vary by role.

If you need more flexibility during the process, tell the company.

The company welcomes people of all backgrounds to be themselves. Studies show women and members of underrepresented communities only apply when they meet 100% of the qualifications, so if that sounds like you, the company encourages you to apply.
