Description

Introduction

As Product Manager Merchant Services, job grade 11, you will be responsible for the performance of ING Wholesale Banking’s Merchant Services proposition. Together with your colleagues, you will define and execute the commercial strategy for the products and services within your scope, with a focus on Digital Payments and Collections.

The team

Transaction Services is one of ING Wholesale Banking’s main business lines, offering a suite of products and services to corporate and institutional clients. Its strategy focuses on supporting sustained growth by delivering competitive and relevant Transaction Services products.

Product Management Payments & Cash Management is responsible for the commercial performance of payment and cash management products for corporate clients and financial institutions. The team optimizes the performance of the product portfolio and develops a long-term vision for keeping ING’s propositions relevant in a highly competitive environment.

Within the Cards area, the team is responsible for the Merchant Services and Commercial Cards propositions. You will report to the Head of Product Management Cards and work closely with Transaction Services Sales, Client Services, Sector teams, Delivery Management, Risk, Compliance, and Legal. You will also be part of the European network, encouraging cross-border collaboration and alignment.

Roles and responsibilities

You will manage the Merchant Services proposition across its commercial, financial, operational, and risk dimensions. Your main responsibilities include:

Improve ING Wholesale Banking’s Merchant Services proposition, representing the voice of the customer and identifying opportunities to attract and better serve clients.

Own the day-to-day product performance and P&L, using commercial and financial insights to set priorities.

Define and execute the product strategy, proposition, roadmap, design, commercial approach, and product life cycle.

Create and track business cases, identify relevant performance data, and contribute to the Dynamic Plan and multiyear budgeting process.

Lead marketing, communication, and customer satisfaction activities for the products within your scope.

Conduct market, competitor, and customer research, taking a pan-European view of developments affecting Merchant Services.

Translate market developments and input from Sales into concrete requirements for product development and proposition enhancements.

Align with Transaction Services Sales, Client Services, and Sector teams, including supporting client pitches.

Monitor and update product policies and governance, and manage non-financial risks through activities such as the Product Approval Review Process, issue management, audits, and key control testing.

Work with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to ensure products and services comply with relevant regulations and policies.

Define business requirements and translate them for Delivery Management Customer Journey Experts, supporting product development, maintenance, and the Quarterly Business Review process.

Share responsibility with the Delivery Management organization for secure, reliable, and flawless 24/7 operations.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and have at least three years of experience in the payments domain at a bank, payment service provider, cards acquirer, or card scheme organization.

Bring solid knowledge and experience in cards acquiring, e-commerce, alternative payment methods, and in-store point-of-sale payments.

Apply knowledge of Commercial Cards where available, although this is an advantage rather than a prerequisite.

Combine client focus with commercial, marketing, and entrepreneurial capabilities.

Take ownership of product strategy implementation while maintaining a long-term perspective and managing risk prudently.

Use data and facts to make decisions, translating complex content and financial information into clear strategic choices and well-structured business cases.

Navigate ambiguity with resilience and simplify complex challenges.

Think proactively, creatively, and beyond established approaches.

Communicate openly and transparently, working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrate energy, motivation, and ING’s Orange behaviors.
