Description

The company builds defense products on Coherent Distributed Networks (CDN), used by warfighters, commercial air operators, and border protection teams to respond faster and keep up with changing threats.

Founded in 2022, the company has raised $1 billion from investors including 8VC, Accel, and Valor Equity Partners. It has 350 employees across 5 global offices, headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, and London.

You will join a new internal software and AI team that works on making the company faster and more effective. The role combines product work with hands-on building: you decide whether a problem calls for building, buying, integrating, automating, or changing a process, and you turn the strongest ideas into working software.

Early on you will build alongside engineers, using AI-assisted development tools. Over time you will help set up shared foundations so other teams can build and automate their own work.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Finance, HR, Recruiting, Growth, Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, IT, and Security teams to learn their workflows, bottlenecks, and chances to use software or AI.
  • Turn vague requests into clear problem statements, user workflows, success measures, and well-sized projects. Tell apart problems that need software from those that need process, policy, training, or a vendor.
  • Set priorities with a steering committee, weighing impact, urgency, cost, risk, dependencies, and upkeep across quick wins, reusable platform work, and longer internal systems.
  • Build working prototypes, automations, small applications, and integrations using code, APIs, AI-assisted development tools, and low-code platforms. Early on, expect to implement much of each solution yourself.
  • Work with engineers to move solutions from prototype to production, making decisions on architecture, data flows, permissions, maintainability, sequencing, and build versus buy.
  • Balance the team's own software work against capabilities that other internal teams can use to build their own tools.
  • Create reusable capabilities for data access, permissions, integrations, and agent workflows so each new internal tool is easier to build, deploy, and run than the last.
  • Travel may occasionally be required to collaborate with other company offices and operating locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum: at least 4 years of product management delivering software products or internal tools in highly ambiguous environments.
  • Minimum: a software engineering background with substantial hands-on coding, and solid working knowledge of modern web applications, APIs, data models, integrations, authentication, permissions, and software architecture.
  • Minimum: comfortable interviewing a business team about a broken workflow, then opening an IDE to test a solution.
  • Minimum: strong product judgment, focused on the underlying problem rather than the requested feature.
  • Minimum: able to work with high autonomy in ambiguous settings, moving from discovery to a working solution without waiting for perfect requirements.
  • Minimum: knows when to prototype quickly, when to invest in durable infrastructure, and when not to build software at all.
  • Minimum: earns engineers' trust through technical depth and business teams' trust through pragmatism, communication, and follow-through.
  • Minimum: a proven record of taking ambiguous business problems through discovery, implementation, and adoption, ideally across multiple functions, clients, or domains.
  • Minimum: fluency with modern AI development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex, or similar, used to materially speed up prototyping and software development.
  • Preferred: experience on a design-build software consultancy, internal-tools or enterprise-platform team, or forward-deployed engineering organization.
  • Preferred: familiarity with systems such as ERP, CRM, QMS, manufacturing, or data platforms.
