Principal SoC Program Manager - MCU

Description

The company builds Industrial and IoT edge products, from very small microcontrollers to high-performance processors, for uses such as home automation, industrial automation and consumer electronics.

The company is forming new teams in Catania to design high-impact microcontrollers as part of its Intelligent Edge and AI strategy. The teams combine analog, digital and SoC design expertise, and the Catania site will cover end-to-end product development.

The company is looking for a Principal SoC Program Manager to join its R&D organisation and lead planning and delivery of advanced microcontroller products.

Responsibilities

• Act as design program manager across every phase of SoC projects, from architecture definition through silicon validation to product release.
• Lead the local PM office and help build a common SoC development flow used across R&D.
• Build and keep up project plans covering milestones, schedules, owners, dependencies and deliverables.
• Run project reviews and regular meetings with global cross-functional stakeholders to move work forward and clear blockers.
• Track project health, keep status visible, and support reporting to executives and senior management.
• Serve as the main contact for escalating and resolving issues.
• Support key technical decisions, architecture reviews, documentation sign-off and quality control.
• Make sure teams execute against project goals and deliver on schedule.
• Assess risks and drive mitigation plans to limit impact on projects.
• Lead cross-functional core teams of technical experts from several disciplines, helping them set priorities, communicate clearly and stay accountable.
• Keep strict execution discipline, spot technical risks early, and make sure critical issues are resolved in time.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of project management principles and methods, including Waterfall and Agile.
• Proven leadership experience and a proactive, solution-focused approach.
• Experience with project tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira or equivalent.
• Good understanding of semiconductor product development, system architecture and SoC design flows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to work in complex technical environments.
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills, willingness to question the status quo, and ability to move between detailed analysis and a high-level strategic view.
• Adaptable and resilient, staying calm under pressure and taking ownership when situations are unclear.
• Experience running complex semiconductor or SoC projects from concept through silicon bring-up to production release.

Conditions

The estimated gross annual base salary for this role in Italy is between 61,000 € and 83,900 €. This is a guideline only and the actual figure depends on qualifications, experience, skills and business needs.

The role falls under the National Collective Labour Agreement for Metalworking Industry (Metalmeccanica Industria).
