Description

The company's Space Missions and Sensing sector develops and applies new technology for space-based sensing, space control, and counter-sensing. Within it, the Space and Counter Space team works on electronic warfare, building engineering and operational prototypes that are tested in real-world conditions.

The team includes principal investigators, program managers, signal processors, software developers, FPGA specialists, RF and electromagnetic engineers, and mechanical designers. Build and test happens on site, on the benchtop, in an anechoic chamber, and over the air. Work is done alongside research engineers across the company, academic researchers, and industry partners on RF sensing and counter-sensing problems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and use of advanced algorithms for signal detection, classification, autonomous sensor planning, and radar electronic warfare.
  • Lead a team of researchers in building new system capabilities, working with the engineering team to prototype, demonstrate, and tune over-the-air systems.
  • Talk with customers directly to learn their requirements and national security needs, and shape solutions around their goals.
  • Apply current signal processing and machine learning methods to hard radar and RF sensing and counter-sensing problems.
  • Work across disciplines to build and deploy prototype systems that push what is achievable.
  • Guide and motivate multi-disciplinary teams toward results, using your technical depth and leadership.
  • Drive business development and help write proposals, shaping the direction of projects and the organization.

Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship as required by the U.S. Government.
  • PhD, MS, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years on EW or radar programs, developing sensor system modes and advanced signal and data processing algorithms, from mathematical derivation through testing and verification of performance.
  • 2+ years in at least two of the following: RF or radar signal processing, optimization, waveform design, electronic warfare, machine learning, adaptive signal processing, algorithm development, system modeling and simulation, and systems engineering.
  • You have experience turning system capabilities into subsystem requirements.
  • You are an experienced researcher and team member who wants to work with mission partners to apply advanced technology and research quickly.
  • You communicate clearly and can prepare technical briefings for audiences that include subcontractors, senior executives, and customers.
  • You program in one or more scientific or mathematical languages, such as MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
  • You have strong mathematical, troubleshooting, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Even Better:
  • Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
  • Proven leadership of complex research, development, and engineering efforts.
  • An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with defense radar and RF technology, especially RF sensing and electronic warfare, including electronic attack, electronic protection, cognitive EW, and advanced ESM techniques and algorithms.
  • Experience with machine learning tasks such as natural language processing, image recognition, semantic segmentation, and reinforcement learning, and methods such as Bayesian, deep convolutional, and graph neural networks, using tools such as PyTorch, Ray, TensorFlow/board, and MLflow.
  • Experience working with decision-makers and customers to turn mission needs into complete end-to-end solutions.
  • Ability to bring new, creative, and interdisciplinary approaches to hard engineering problems.

Conditions

Full-time salary range is $206,000 to $284,000.

The range is based on external market data. Final offers depend on factors such as experience, education, training, key and critical skills, security clearances, and current market and business conditions.
