Description

The company is working to make energy more reliable, affordable and sustainable, and to keep power flowing to the services people rely on for health, safety and quality of life.

The team is part of the gas power business and builds cleaner, more efficient generation technology for customers today, along with the energy technology that will follow.

The role focuses on next-generation control systems for power plants. Operators need better ways to see and run their plants, and those systems must stay secure and resilient. Artificial intelligence is one of the newer tools that could make plant operations more efficient.

You will help improve control system technology, the user experience and system security. The work spans platform development, user interface design and cyber security, so you will see several parts of control system development.

Responsibilities

  • Research and test technologies for modern control rooms
  • Help design and build the controls and human machine interface platform that keeps power plants running reliably
  • Help create and prototype control system screens using simulation tools
  • Help put security controls and good practices in place for operational technology
  • Collect and review stakeholder feedback to shape controls, platform design and security upgrades
  • Help write documentation, templates and standards for customer operations
  • Look for ways to bring advanced technology into control systems
  • Assess computing options for control system features built on generative AI

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or another STEM field (science, technology, engineering or math)
  • 0 to 1 year of related experience in engineering or a STEM field
  • Desired: experience designing human machine interfaces alongside computer programming, or work with computer platforms, network devices or cyber security
  • Desired: interest in control systems, interface design, computer platforms (operating systems and hypervisors), network architecture and devices, or cyber security compliance and security controls
  • Desired: awareness of large language and small language AI models and prompt engineering
  • Desired: familiarity with zero-trust security principles
  • Desired: basic knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus and OPC UA, or of SCADA systems
  • Desired: familiarity with network devices and configurations, such as switches and firewalls
  • Desired: familiarity with design tools or security control principles
  • Desired: awareness of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence
  • You must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States. Sponsorship will not be provided for this role now or later.
  • Offers are conditional on a drug screen where it applies.
