Description

After structured training and an onboarding plan suited to you, you will build and support embedded software for the company's core product range.

The work covers new product development as well as released products, including defect investigation, feature work and software improvements.

You will join an international R&D group known for reliable, leading industrial products.

The products are precision machines that print and label at speed on moving targets.

Within the mechatronics team you may work on real-time motion control, embedded Linux, communications, signal processing, user interfaces, image recognition, security and industrial automation.

The company is a global leader in product identification, coding and marking, part of a group of about 17,000 associates with $5B in revenue. Its technology helps keep food, beverages, medicines and industrial goods safe, traceable and authentic.

You do not need experience in every area listed. The role can be shaped around your strengths and interests.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in Agile routines such as planning, estimation, reviews and ongoing process improvement.
  • Write technical documents covering design, testing, release and long-term product support.
  • Own assigned tasks and deliver to agreed plans with care and sound engineering judgement.

Requirements

  • Solid C or C++ design and development for real-time or embedded Linux platforms.
  • Hands-on real-time control with an RTOS such as FreeRTOS on Cortex-M microcontrollers.
  • Embedded Linux across kernel configuration, device drivers, bootloaders and user-space applications.
  • Experience with WinCE embedded systems.
  • Working knowledge of embedded build toolchains and systems such as GCC, Make, CMake or Buildroot.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging, including diagnosing faults on target hardware with Trace32 or GDB.
  • Practical use of development tools and workflows such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, Git, GitHub, Jira or similar.
  • Openness to AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot and Claude for coding, debugging, documentation and test work.
  • Good communication, patience and constructive collaboration with software, electronics, mechanical and product colleagues.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Useful: FPGA work in VHDL, using ModelSim/Questa or Xilinx tools and devices.
  • Useful: C or Python for reusable test applications, diagnostics or engineering tools.
  • Useful: industrial communications protocols such as Ethernet/IP and PROFINET.
  • Useful: industrial sensors, actuators or motion control, especially stepper motors.
  • Useful: reading electronic circuit schematics and complex data sheets.
