Description

The company is hiring an engineer with hydraulics and drainage design experience for a busy, growing team that handles assessment, concept, feasibility, preliminary and detailed design across many kinds of projects.

Clients include private and public sector bodies, including long-term framework agreements with several local authorities and design-and-build commissions for large contractors.

The group has delivered water designs for many years in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries.

The work may include some well-known transportation and water projects, and the team is diverse and multicultural, sitting within the Enterprise Capabilities group.

Responsibilities

  • Help deliver small projects or defined work packages within larger roadway infrastructure projects, working under experienced designers and senior engineers.
  • Produce project deliverables from approved design inputs and project requirements.
  • Create and update 2D drawings, 3D models and layouts.
  • Carry out quantity calculations to meet project requirements.
  • Use engineering and CAD software to build practical design solutions that meet project requirements and applicable standards.
  • Check your own drawings, models and documents before they go for review.
  • Coordinate assigned drafting and modelling tasks with colleagues from other disciplines, following senior staff guidance.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hydraulics and drainage (H&D) design experience, and a real interest in building a technical career in this field.
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, including setting up standards and building pipeline alignments, profiles, cross sections, grading and surface operations.
  • Experience with hydraulics and hydrology packages such as StormCAD and OpenRoads Designer, or similar, is a plus.
  • Fluent English, spoken and written.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in civil, environmental or water engineering, or a related field, is preferred.

Conditions

Equal opportunity applies; applicants are considered without regard to protected characteristics.
