Description

The company is looking for a business developer to turn its technology roadmaps into funded projects by finding public funding opportunities, forming collaborative consortia, and securing public financing for its research and technology projects in Spain.

The role reports operationally to the Research and Innovation Leader in Spain (ETR) and is functionally attached to the Head of Engineering Spain (EBST).

The role is based in Getafe alongside other divisions of the company Group, which makes cross-divisional collaboration easier. You will also work closely with the AH facilities in Albacete.

You will work regularly with the other organisations within EBS and ET and with AH functions such as strategy, business, finance, HR, communication and legal.

Responsibilities

  • Track, analyse and map European (for example Clean Aviation, Horizon Europe and EDF), national (for example CDTI, MINTUR, SEPIDES, and the Ministry of Defence through DGAM and PLATIN) and regional funding programmes to find strategic financing for the company Helicopters España.
  • Lead the capture strategy and write strong proposals for public funding, industrial investment and procurement calls, including R&D grants, CAPEX or industrialisation funds and PPI, keeping them aligned with the technology roadmaps. Prepare the bid file so it complements other AH research work in Europe.
  • Lobby and engage external public and private stakeholders to support the technology roadmap and strategy of the company Helicopters.
  • Lead the early setup of proposals and build collaborative consortia, maintaining relationships with key industrial partners, SMEs, universities and research centres in Spain and Europe.
  • Hand proposals over smoothly from capture to formal contract signature to the colleagues who run R&T projects, and support project execution and cost justification when needed.
  • Work with AH R&T teams and the Engineering Centres of Competence (CoCs) worldwide to map their technology roadmaps and capabilities against available funding routes. Communicate clearly with different internal audiences.
  • Under the Head of IP's guidance, make sure early consortium agreements and proposal structures protect the company Helicopters' intellectual property.

Requirements

  • More than 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years dedicated to R&D public funding capture in high-tech, defence or aerospace.
  • A strong aeronautical technical background and a solid grasp of complex engineering systems and technology roadmaps.
  • An established network within national and European funding bodies, specifically existing contacts in the Spanish Ministry of Defence, DGAM and DIGEID/PLATIN, plus other relevant bodies such as CDTI or MINTUR, and with key aerospace and defence companies in Spain and Europe.
  • A proven record with European programmes (Clean Aviation, Horizon Europe, EDF) and national or regional funding schemes such as CDTI or MINTUR. Experience with collaborative R&D grants is essential.
  • Knowledge of Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) processes is a plus.
  • An innovative mindset and a real team player, able to work across organisations and influence diverse teams.
  • Ability to run complex capture campaigns and manage multi-partner consortia on your own.
  • Native Spanish with a deep understanding of Spanish institutions, and fluent English at negotiation level.
  • A strong commitment to integrity, with the ability to spot compliance risks that could affect the company's reputation.
  • Willingness to travel within Spain and across Europe.

Conditions

Permanent contract, professional experience level.

Equal opportunities: all applications are welcome regardless of background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief.

Benefits

  • Flexible working arrangements are supported where possible to encourage innovative thinking.
