Description

The bureau builds custom software and provides database administration and advisory services that support the work of the NYC Health Department.

The team develops web and desktop applications on.NET, cross-platform mobile apps with Xamarin, and data integrations with SSIS.

The database environment runs mainly on Microsoft SQL Server. DBAs keep critical databases running around the clock and available after a disaster, and the team advises programs with specialised database needs.

Code changes follow standard deployment procedures. TFS handles source control and automated builds and releases.

The health department was founded in 1805 and is the oldest and largest in the US. Its work covers nutrition, tobacco, chronic disease, HIV/AIDS, family and child health, environmental health, mental health and social justice.

This is a permanent role, listed as Cyber Security Analyst, requisition 13633.

  • An equivalent mix of education and experience. Up to 2 years of the experience in the option above may be replaced by college study, with 60 semester credits counting as one year. 24 credits from an accredited college or graduate school in the listed fields, or a certificate of at least 625 hours in computer programming from an accredited post-secondary technical school, may replace one year of experience.
  • Preferred: at least 8 years of hands-on experience with C, ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET, ADO.NET and JavaScript, plus a strong grasp of object-oriented and.NET development principles.
  • Preferred: at least 5 years of Microsoft SQL Server experience, with strong knowledge of relational database principles, normalisation, functions and stored procedures.
