Description

The company is a large UK financial services organisation investing in its people, technology and data to serve customers better.

The technology teams build services at scale, using modern engineering practices and working across disciplines.

This senior architecture role focuses on the mobile technology landscape, defining complex solution architectures that support business goals and fit the wider technology strategy.

You will give technical direction across product, engineering and architecture teams, settling architectural complexity early so delivery teams can move faster and solutions stay secure, resilient and scalable.

You will play a key part in the mobile platform architecture roadmap, influencing customer experience, engineering effectiveness and long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end solution architecture for complex mobile programmes, making sure designs meet customer, business and technology goals.
  • Build architecture roadmaps, solution designs and technical options so delivery teams can decide with confidence and keep pace.
  • Work with Product Owners, Engineering Leads and Enterprise Architects to align priorities, dependencies and delivery plans.
  • Build secure and resilient thinking into mobile solutions from discovery through to live service.
  • Spot and manage architectural risk, technical debt and cross-platform dependencies, balancing near-term delivery against long-term platform health.
  • Promote shared patterns, reusable capabilities and engineering standards across mobile teams.

Requirements

  • Significant experience designing and leading end-to-end architectures spanning applications, services, platforms and operational environments.
  • Solid grasp of mobile architecture across Android and iOS, including integration with APIs, backend services and shared platform capabilities.
  • Track record of shaping roadmaps, weighing options and explaining technical trade-offs to varied audiences.
  • Sound knowledge of security and resilience, covering secure design, risk management and operational readiness.
  • Experience working in agile delivery alongside engineering, product and architecture colleagues.
  • Proven record of influencing decisions, building alignment and providing technical leadership in complex, multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Really useful: experience in a regulated financial services setting or another large, complex organisation.
  • Really useful: experience with cloud, microservices, observability, platform engineering or service reliability.
  • Really useful: experience contributing to architecture standards, reference patterns, technical communities or engineering capability building.
