  • Introduce and promote Agile practices such as Scrum or Kanban, and support continuous delivery.
  • Build monitoring for application health, infrastructure and code performance to keep systems reliable and the user experience strong.
  • Bring in modern technologies, refine architecture, and keep code maintainable through reviews and refactoring.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of software development, including 2+ years in a technical leadership role.
  • A record of leading teams that built and scaled e-commerce platforms or consumer-facing products.
  • Broad hands-on experience with modern web technologies, and deep skill in JavaScript (Node.js, Vue.js), TypeScript, Fastly and Python.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services (including Serverless/SAM), containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch and Redis.
  • Experience running high-performance, highly available applications in production.
  • A proven ability to lead, mentor and motivate engineers toward demanding technical goals.
  • Clear communication, able to explain complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A proven ability to work across product, design and business teams.
  • Deep familiarity with Agile methods, Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and delivering business value in small, incremental releases.
  • Bonus: experience with non-procedural programming or functional-style programming.
  • Bonus: experience building e-commerce, affiliate or consumer media applications.
  • Bonus: experience mentoring junior engineers, running technical interviews and helping with hiring.
