Manager, Platform Engineering - Technology Advisory

The role is a manager position for a professional who combines cloud platform technical knowledge, experience building solutions in banking, and a track record of leading programs.

The work sits between executive strategy, technical architecture and commercial opportunity development across cloud, data, AI, security and application modernization.

This is not a delivery-only architecture job and not a pure sales role. You will apply banking knowledge and technical credibility to shape workable solutions and grow early engagements into larger programs and lasting client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and technical conversations on cloud transformation, platform engineering, data, AI, security and application modernization.
• Turn banking business priorities, regulatory obligations and operational problems into technology strategies and programs that can be executed.
• Give architecture-level direction across Azure, AWS and GCP, including hybrid and multi-cloud setups.
• Help shape engagements from discovery and solution design through proposals, mobilization and delivery.
• Build account growth plans together with sales, delivery and practice leadership.
• Run client workshops, architecture reviews, proposals, roadmaps and strategy presentations.
• Stay hands-on enough in delivery to keep client trust, support good outcomes and spot emerging priorities.
• Coach architects, consultants and engineers working on banking accounts.

Requirements

• Deep banking experience covering technology governance, risk, compliance and investment decisions.
• Experience in one or more banking areas such as retail, commercial, payments, lending, wealth, capital markets, risk or finance.
• Broad knowledge of cloud, data, AI, cybersecurity, integration and application modernization.
• Ability to assess complicated technology environments and give clear, practical direction.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to speak credibly to senior executives and technical teams alike.
• Although the role is not mainly hands-on engineering, you need the technical depth to assess, shape and challenge enterprise cloud solutions in large banks.
• Architect-level knowledge of Azure, AWS and/or GCP, including hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Experience with platform engineering and shared cloud services built for use across several teams and applications.
• Knowledge of cloud governance, landing zones, identity, networking, security, resilience and observability.
• Working knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, APIs and modern application delivery.
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches, spot risks and explain recommendations to architects, engineers and executives.
• Preferred: 5+ years of progressive experience across banking technology, cloud architecture, consulting or technology leadership.
• Preferred: experience working directly for a bank, advising banking clients, or both.
• Preferred: prior work in consulting, professional services, systems integration or a technology provider.
• Preferred: demonstrated responsibility for account growth, business development or market development.
• Preferred: experience leading major cloud transformation, platform modernization or enterprise technology programs.
• Preferred: experience leading multidisciplinary teams and influencing people without direct authority.

Conditions

The expected annual compensation range is $115,000 to $165,000.

Expect some time in the office, at client sites and working virtually, unless an accommodation or alternative arrangement is in place.
