Description

The company's Mission Systems sector is hiring a manager for field engineering services in its Launcher Systems business unit.

The role leads field service engineers who repair shipboard power generation and main propulsion equipment on U.S. Naval Ships, which are company-built systems.

No relocation assistance is offered.

No security clearance is needed to start, but a Secret clearance is the required type.

Travel is 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Manage your direct report field engineers day to day.
• Arrange shipment of tools and materials, customer facility access, and project staffing so field repairs can happen on site.
• Pull in internal company resources as needed to finish repair work.
• Handle field service admin: review and approve expense reports and time entries, run quarterly check-ins, and grow your team's skills.
• Hire and onboard new field engineers.
• Oversee and coordinate field engineer training and support it administratively.
• Review customer purchase orders before your field team starts work.
• Take customer calls about project support.
• Attend recurring status meetings.
• Contribute input to customer schedule updates and project tracking.
• Run the weekly forecast review.
• Keep field engineer employee records current.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 6+ years repairing or servicing shipboard machinery, or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office and SAP.
• Ability to juggle several projects in a fast-moving, changing environment.
• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Nice to have: prior field service engineering experience.
• Nice to have: familiarity with VA SSTG, VA MPU, CG-47 MRG, LHD MPU, CVN-68 SSTG, and Ford Class SSTGs.
• Nice to have: technical and working knowledge of shipboard turbine-driven power generation and propulsion machinery and its support systems.
• Nice to have: prior shipyard experience.
• Nice to have: an active DoD Secret security clearance.

Conditions

Base pay range is $100,000.00 to $150,000.00. This is a general guide; the final offer depends on factors such as the position's scope and responsibilities, your experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the role, you may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus on top of base pay.
