Description

The role is to develop the engineering management system, which connects governance, processes, standards, performance and knowledge so engineering teams can deliver consistently.

You will work across Engineering & Workplace with the Engineering Systems & Performance team, which builds and supports the systems, standards and ways of working behind engineering delivery.

The system is a core part of the Engineering Delivery System. The Management System Lead sets its direction, roadmap, priorities and governance.

You will work alongside a Management System Lead Professional, who handles the digital side: knowledge management, document governance, workflows, platforms and automation.

You will help shape how the system is structured, governed and improved, working with process owners, Engineering leaders, Area Partners and subject-matter experts to clarify ownership, strengthen interfaces and keep the system coherent and useful.

Within 12 to 18 months, you will help deliver visible progress against agreed EMS priorities, clearer ownership and interfaces, stronger lifecycle governance, easier access to trusted content, and less duplication and local workarounds in the areas covered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve EMS components within the agreed roadmap.
  • Turn Engineering Delivery System priorities and user needs into processes, standards, methods, templates and guidance.
  • Help design an EMS architecture that links governance, engineering processes, performance management, capability and knowledge.
  • Coordinate process and standard development with owners, clarify interfaces and reduce duplication.
  • Strengthen ownership models and lifecycle management for EMS content.
  • Build information and knowledge structures so content is easier to find, understand and apply.
  • Define business and user requirements for workflows, reporting, analytics, automation and other digital solutions.
  • Set up feedback, adoption and maturity measures that show whether changes work in practice.
  • Keep a transparent improvement backlog and coordinate agreed development work.
  • Explore how AI, automation and digital tools can make the EMS more accessible, usable and effective.

Requirements

  • Experience developing or improving management systems, quality systems, operating models, business processes or governance frameworks.
  • Experience building or improving processes, standards, methods, templates or guidance that support consistent ways of working.
  • Experience turning complex stakeholder and business requirements into practical management-system solutions.
  • Experience applying process management, standardisation and continuous-improvement principles in a professional setting.
  • Experience working across functions and influencing leaders, process owners and specialists without formal authority.
  • Ability to structure complex information and explain it clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience using digital management systems, knowledge platforms, workflow tools, analytics or reporting to support business processes.
  • Strong facilitation, planning and communication skills, with disciplined follow-through.
  • Preferred: experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial or technical product settings.
  • Preferred: experience with SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI or comparable platforms.
  • Preferred: experience applying AI-enabled productivity, automation or knowledge-management solutions in a governed environment.
  • Preferred: knowledge of ISO-based management systems, document control, audit or compliance environments.
  • Preferred: experience supporting enterprise transformation, operating-model development or cross-functional process implementation.
  • Preferred: a relevant degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, Information Management, Digital Technologies or a related field. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
