Linux System Administrator (Top Secret/SCI with agreement to obtain CI Poly Clearance Required)

Description

The company is hiring a Linux system administrator for a large classified program where uptime is critical. You need an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and must be willing to take a polygraph within the customer's timeline.

You will support both operations and development teams, along with the Linux systems and collaboration tools they rely on.

Responsibilities

• Keep Linux systems running across several program environments for both operations and development.
• Run cloud work that changes as customer needs change.
• Administer Jira, Confluence and RocketChat, manage user accounts, and fix application access problems.
• Watch system performance and respond to anomalies, making configuration changes on your own to keep availability at 99.9%.
• During outages, work with enterprise partners and decide when to fail over across availability zones or data centers.
• Run system checkouts and test upgrades and patches in live environments.
• Work with Enterprise Services to maintain security compliance.
• Record incidents, workarounds, root cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Write user guides and operating procedures for program tools, including custom Linux scripts and tailored COTS products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Current, active CompTIA Security+ certification before your start date.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Willingness and ability to get a polygraph within the customer's timeline.
• Your clearance level must be stated clearly on your resume.
• Experience administering Linux systems, including configuration and infrastructure management.
• Experience administering Jira and Confluence.
• Experience with RocketChat or similar messaging and collaboration tools.
• Skill in managing user accounts and troubleshooting application access.
• Experience monitoring system performance and responding to anomalies.
• Experience supporting high-availability environments, including failover decisions across availability zones or data centers.
• Experience testing system patches and upgrades in operational environments.
• Experience coordinating security compliance with enterprise or partner teams.
• Experience documenting incidents, root cause analyses and corrective actions.
• Experience writing user guides and procedures, including custom Linux scripts.
• Able to work the Panama shift, including weekends and holidays.
• Preferred: experience with AWS or other cloud providers and cloud-based architectures.
• Preferred: familiarity with cross-domain architectures spanning multiple classification levels.
• Preferred: experience with automated testing and monitoring tools.
• Preferred: experience with Engineering Review Boards and Change Management processes.
