Description

This is a full-time Lifecycle Engineer role in the Product Maturity & Cost team within Controls Lifecycle Engineering.

The team supports in-service mechanical and electrical system products for the Civil, Commercial and Business Aviation engine families. These include air, oil, fuel and electrical Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). It also works to keep engine fleets running reliably in service, processing and analysing LRU service data to improve safety, reliability and cost.

You will be a good fit if you have an engineering background and are willing to help with wider Lifecycle Engineering work, such as investigations at unit and fleet level.

The role offers regular contact with internal and external customers, partners, suppliers and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul facilities, where you will help drive data delivery and track their performance.

The role can be based in Birmingham or Derby, depending on the candidate's personal circumstances.

Responsibilities

  • Work with LRU suppliers and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul facilities to improve cost and maturity support.
  • Build key insights and metrics that show how LRUs perform, and identify the safety and reliability drivers, with a focus on reducing cost.
  • Present the analysis of these drivers to Project, Engineering and Supplier Management.
  • Identify the changes needed to address these drivers, lead them through the Lifecycle Engineering and Project processes, and see them delivered.
  • Support the wider Controls Lifecycle Engineering team with cost and maturity challenges.

Requirements

  • A degree-level education in a STEM subject, and/or experience in a relevant engineering field (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls). Other qualifications may be considered alongside relevant experience.
  • Strong numeracy, technical and analytical skills, and problem-solving ability, with the capacity to think at both component and systems level.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external parties at all levels of the business.
  • Highly self-motivated, with good time management and planning skills. You can prioritise and carry out complex tasks under pressure, and identify and manage risk with your team.
  • Advantageous, but not required: familiarity with in-service and control systems operation, particularly for civil aerospace engine products.

Conditions

Hybrid working, with 3 days a week in the office.

The posting lists the location as Solihull/Derby, and separately says the role can be based in Birmingham or Derby.

The professional level and salary depend on skills and experience. The anticipated grade is CDS 7-10/SNBG7-10.

The role is advertised at these grades and this is the desired operating level, but applications are welcome from candidates at any grade with relevant experience.

Please tell your current manager that you are applying.

Priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
