Description

You will join a team that works where embedded security meets connected IoT devices. The work centers on firmware for secure device provisioning, over-the-air updates, and trusted execution on Arm Cortex-M microcontrollers.

The role suits early-career engineers who want to grow their skills in embedded security and in managing the lifecycle of connected devices.

The firmware you help build ships in millions of IoT devices worldwide, so the security stakes are high.

You will get hands-on work with security frameworks, TrustZone, and the company's embedded security ecosystem.

You will work across both embedded firmware and backend services, giving you a full-stack view of IoT security.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and test provisioning firmware that binds devices to specific OEMs at manufacturing sites (RTP provisioning).
  • Implement and validate a trusted execution security framework on Arm Cortex-M MCUs, including core components and example applications.
  • Build and test secure key provisioning applications on FreeRTOS and Zephyr RTOS.
  • Develop and maintain over-the-air firmware update flows for connected devices.
  • Handle the distribution and release of embedded software through several distribution portals.
  • Help shape the architecture and design of secure device management solutions.
  • Work with the backend team on microservices that handle device abstraction.

Requirements

  • Hold a university degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Have strong C programming skills.
  • Understand 32-bit microcontroller architectures and embedded software design.
  • Have exposure to embedded verification methods such as unit and integration testing.
  • Know embedded security concepts, including cryptographic algorithms, Arm TrustZone, and secure boot.
  • Have experience with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
  • Have scripting experience in Python or Groovy for build and test automation.
  • Have an object-oriented programming background in Java, which is relevant for backend collaboration.
  • You may or will be responsible for security-related tasks, and the work may or will fall under security certifications, so a careful and dependable way of working is essential.
  • Curious and quick to learn, comfortable picking up new tools, standards, and protocols.
  • Assembler experience is a plus.

Conditions

This is a full-time position graded in Employment Group IV of the Austrian collective agreement "Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte Gewerbe und Handwerk und in der Dienstleistung".

Your individual experience and expectations will be considered during the application process.

Equal treatment applies to all applicants, in line with the Austrian Equal Treatment Act.

Benefits

  • Pay is competitive, benchmarked against the electronics and semiconductor industry.
  • Benefits include home office, flexible working hours, meal benefits, and more.
