Description

The company runs UpToDate, a clinical decision support platform trusted by clinicians worldwide, and is building UpToDate Expert AI on top of it, with production AI that helps clinicians decide better within their daily workflows.

The team is hiring a lead technical product manager to drive delivery of APIs, integrations and embedded applications that bring UpToDate intelligence into the wider healthcare ecosystem. This covers APIs used by third-party products and applications built into clinical tools such as electronic health record systems.

You will work inside the API operating model and follow the direction set by product leadership. You will run day-to-day delivery for a defined product area, work closely with platform and engineering teams, and act as a go-to integration product resource across the portfolio. Success means partners adopt what you ship, it runs reliably in production, it is easy to integrate, and it supports business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of delivery and results for defined API, integration, embedded application and agentic AI capabilities.
  • Lead delivery of APIs that let third-party products and partners use UpToDate intelligence.
  • Lead delivery of applications that put UpToDate Expert AI inside existing clinical tools, including electronic health record systems.
  • Turn partner, product and clinical workflow needs into clear product and platform requirements.
  • Set roadmap sequencing for your product area and manage its dependencies and tradeoffs.
  • Advise other product teams on integration approaches and shared platform capabilities as the portfolio's integration product expert.
  • Set and improve standards for API governance, lifecycle, versioning, reliability and developer experience.
  • Define requirements for AI quality, safety, evaluation, monitoring and operational readiness.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Architecture, Data, Security, Privacy, Legal and other enterprise stakeholders.
  • Communicate priorities, decisions, dependencies and risks clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Spot recurring partner needs and build them into reusable capabilities, reference patterns, templates and self-service tools to cut one-off engineering.
  • Own discovery, technical readiness, sandbox onboarding, testing, launch, production monitoring, upgrades and deprecation.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years delivering complex software products from problem definition through launch and iteration.
  • Experience owning delivery and results for a platform, API, integration or other technical product area.
  • Strong technical knowledge of APIs, distributed systems, authentication and authorization, reliability, SLAs and SLOs, and cloud architecture.
  • Experience building developer-facing integration capabilities such as APIs, SDKs, documentation, versioning strategies or sandbox environments.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence and GitHub to manage backlogs, record requirements and decisions, and work across internal teams.
  • Experience delivering products that fit into enterprise or clinical workflows.
  • Experience shipping production AI-enabled capabilities, including evaluation, monitoring, guardrails and operational readiness.
  • Strong product judgment in regulated or high-trust environments.
  • Ability to lead through influence with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Preferred: technical background in software engineering, architecture, SRE or B2B platform development.
  • Preferred: experience in healthcare, EHR integrations, interoperability standards such as SMART on FHIR, or another regulated domain.
  • Preferred: experience with healthcare interoperability and EHR integrations, including SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0 or OpenID Connect.
  • Preferred: familiarity with AI observability, evaluation pipelines or AI incident response.
  • Candidates must complete interviews without AI tools or outside help. Interviews may be in person, and virtual backgrounds must be removed. Using AI-generated answers or third-party support during interviews leads to disqualification.
  • You may be asked to attend an onsite interview at a the company office.
