Description

The company is the company Tax & Accounting, and it is hiring a senior product manager to define and deliver outcomes across the tax product lifecycle.

You will act as both product definer and tax subject matter expert, turning customer, practitioner and market signals into clear problem definitions, product strategy and measurable business results.

You will own a product domain, capability area or customer journey, shaping practitioner-focused solutions, checking that they deliver customer value, influencing strategy and driving commercial success.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in tax preparation, review or firm workflows, sound product judgment, and the ability to use AI and agentic tools across the product lifecycle. You can tell a novelty apart from something that gives practitioners real value, and you ground solutions in real workflows and trusted outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Turn feedback, usage data, competitive intelligence, market research and business goals into clear problem statements and product opportunities.
  • Set product vision, OKRs, success metrics and customer and business outcomes.
  • Write requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and supporting documents that trace back to outcomes.
  • Rank opportunities by customer value, practitioner impact, business outcome, strategic fit and effort.
  • Own and maintain a customer-centred roadmap tied to business goals and market needs.
  • Work with leadership to find and rank growth opportunities, customer segments, workflows and high-value use cases.
  • Turn complex tax workflows and practitioner needs into concrete, actionable requirements.
  • Balance near-term delivery against long-term strategic investment.
  • Work with marketing, sales, customer success and others on launches, positioning, messaging, pricing, packaging and customer value.
  • Bring practitioner insight on pain points, workflow gaps, adoption barriers and differentiation.
  • Plan market readiness, launch, customer communications and adoption, and help build sales enablement, demos, training and customer use cases.
  • Run alpha and beta programmes and turn customer feedback into product decisions.
  • Take part in customer engagements, advisory councils and industry events where tax expertise matters.
  • Lead customer discovery, including practitioner interviews, surveys, workflow analysis and design partner work.
  • Document practitioner workflows covering tax preparation, review, K-1 processing, exception handling, data validation and return delivery.
  • Turn problems into user journeys, design principles, hypotheses and acceptance criteria, and test prototypes and MVPs with UX.
  • Test assumptions through structured experiments and qualitative and quantitative research, and find bottlenecks, review points and automation opportunities.
  • Use AI and agentic tools to speed up research, analysis, competitor work and experiments, and to support planning and content.
  • Define accuracy, completeness, explainability, workflow fit, consistency and adoption criteria for AI outputs, and set where human review and escalation are required.
  • Track adoption, retention, engagement, satisfaction, revenue and growth, and use the results to guide the roadmap and commercial decisions.
  • Report progress against OKRs to stakeholders and hold initiatives accountable for measurable results.
  • Manage backlogs, epics and roadmap investments, and resolve risks, dependencies and trade-offs across product, engineering, UX, sales, marketing, support and compliance.
  • Advise on practitioner workflows and product-market fit, and speak up for practitioner needs and customer outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred study areas: accounting, tax, business, finance, computer science or related fields.
  • Preferred: CPA, master's in taxation, MBA or another advanced degree.
  • 5+ years of product management or related experience.
  • 5+ years of tax preparation, tax review, public accounting, tax technology or related practitioner experience.
  • Proven success with B2B SaaS, workflow, platform, tax technology or enterprise software products.
  • Experience with tax preparation and review workflows, including K-1s, pass-through entities, partnerships and complex engagements.
  • Experience turning practitioner workflows and customer problems into requirements and product direction.
  • Experience working directly with customers to identify problems, test solutions and improve outcomes.
  • Experience in Agile product development.
  • Experience launching products, commercialising them and running cross-functional execution.
  • Experience using data and metrics to guide product decisions.
  • Product strategy: define vision, set priorities, make trade-offs and link strategy to measurable outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of tax preparation, review, K-1 processing, pass-through taxation, practitioner decision-making, moving data into returns, exception handling and firm operating models.
  • Customer discovery: research, workflow analysis, jobs-to-be-done, journey mapping and problem validation.
  • Commercialisation: positioning, pricing, packaging, launch readiness, adoption and sales enablement.
  • Solid understanding of AI and generative AI, and the ability to use AI across discovery, design, experiments, planning and delivery.
  • Experience with cloud products that use usage-based metrics, continuous delivery and iterative development.
  • Technical fluency with APIs, integrations, platforms and engineering trade-offs, and the ability to turn business needs into direction.
  • Strong use of quantitative and qualitative insight to drive decisions and improve performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and stakeholder skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong organisation, prioritisation and execution, including working in ambiguous and fast-paced settings.
