Lead Software Engineer

Description

The team builds and maintains the critical infrastructure behind the company's services, in a mission-focused area of work.

The role is a lead engineering position, with responsibility for both technical direction and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own the team's deliverables and work with the Scrum Master to choose the right direction.
• Take part in every stage of development, from gathering requirements and design to building, testing and release.
• Work with product staff, front-end engineers and QA to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Coach junior developers and help grow the team's skills.

Requirements

• Several years of software development work with a clear focus on either backend Java (Spring Boot, Maven) or frontend development (React, npm).
• Proven experience designing, building and releasing scalable backend systems.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD, containers, deployment tools and cloud platforms such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker and AWS.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills, ideally gained in agile teams.
• You must be a British national to hold this clearance type.
• You must currently hold UK Government security clearance at the highest level.
