Web, API and Integration Engineer

Description

The team builds and supports the digital platform, combining web, API, integration and data work in one engineering role.

The work covers new capability, insurer and product change, operational automation and live-service support on a.NET, Razor Pages, SQL Server and Azure DevOps stack.

You will build and run changes, defects, operational automation and live-service improvements.

You will work alongside File Manager specialists, but you are not expected to be the main File Manager configurator.

Responsibilities

• Build and support web applications, APIs, services and integrations for the platform.
• Develop on a.NET 8 MVC application using Razor Pages, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and CSS.
• Create and maintain REST APIs, insurer integrations, imports, exports, feeds and secure file transfers.
• Use SQL Server or Azure SQL Server for reporting, reconciliation, data quality and operational processing.
• Support File Manager integration points where web journeys, data feeds or APIs feed into operational processes.
• Build, test and deploy safely with Azure DevOps, Git branching, YAML pipelines and environment promotion.
• Refine requirements and acceptance criteria with Product, Operations, QA and engineering colleagues.
• Investigate defects, data anomalies and live-service issues, then help fix them and prevent repeats.
• Write clear technical notes, support guides and handover material.
• Suggest improvements to reliability, maintainability, security, automation and customer or broker experience.
• Work through the Build and Run model: design, build, test, deploy, monitor, support and improve.
• Work from a transparent prioritised backlog, delivering value in small steps on a regular agile cadence.
• Take part in planning, refinement, daily work, reviews, retrospectives, demos and showcases.
• Automate build, testing, security checks, deployment and repeatable environment tasks where practical.
• Release small, safe increments and use feedback and delivery data to improve.
• Stay within architecture, cloud, security and platform guardrails.
• Use approved engineering and AI-assisted tools with proper security and human review.

Requirements

• Commercial development experience across web applications, APIs, integrations or data-led systems.
• Solid grounding in.NET, C, REST APIs, SQL and practical frontend development.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git branching, CI/CD pipelines and controlled environment promotion.
• Ability to diagnose problems across applications, integrations, data and operational workflows.
• Understanding of secure coding, data protection, testing and maintainable design.
• Clear communication and confidence working with technical and operational stakeholders.
• Willingness to own both change delivery and live-service support.

Conditions

Fixed-term contract.
