Description

The team needs a clearer picture of how clinicians and care teams use UpToDate's clinical decision support products, and you will supply it. The UpToDate suite supports millions of clinical decisions each day, and the company keeps expanding its CDS and AI-enabled experiences. Teams need to know which features users engage with, which interactions lead to real action, where workflows stall, and how product changes shift adoption and value.

You will study adoption, engagement, funnel behavior and usage patterns across CDS products, working with Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Commercial and customer-facing colleagues to turn product data into insights, sharper decisions and measurable gains. This role goes beyond reporting: you will query usage data yourself, dig into patterns and turn findings into practical recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain the metrics for adoption, engagement, funnels and usage across CDS products.
  • Write your own queries to study clicks, actions, user journeys, drop-offs, cohorts, segments and usage patterns.
  • Find which interactions lead to downstream action and pinpoint where workflows lose momentum.
  • Build dashboards and recurring views so product teams can track performance and user behavior.
  • Work with Product Managers to set success metrics for launches, pilots, MVPs and experiments.
  • Surface insights that guide roadmap priorities, UX changes, content needs, commercialization and adoption plans.
  • Improve instrumentation and metric definitions so teams can trust the product data.
  • Turn your analysis into clear recommendations for product, leadership, commercial and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product analytics, data analytics, business analytics, product operations or a closely related role.
  • Ability to write SQL or comparable data-querying code on your own.
  • Track record analyzing adoption, engagement, funnels, click behavior, cohorts, segments and usage, and using the findings to shape product strategy.
  • Comfortable working with event-level telemetry, data models and instrumentation that is not always clean.
  • Skill at breaking vague product questions into structured analysis with actionable answers.
  • Experience building dashboards, recurring reports or self-serve analytics views.
  • Ability to explain data clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Analytics, Commercial or Customer Success.
  • Preferred: experience in healthcare, clinical workflow, enterprise SaaS, AI-enabled products, search, content products or decision-support tools.
  • Preferred: familiarity with experimentation, A/B testing, product telemetry, event instrumentation or customer journey analytics.
  • Preferred: experience with modern data platforms and business intelligence tools.
  • Preferred: experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative feedback side by side.
  • Success looks like: teams trust the CDS adoption, engagement, funnel and usage metrics; PMs know which interactions and workflows drive meaningful action; usage analysis reveals ways to raise clinician and care team satisfaction, workflow fit and repeat use; launches and experiments have clear success metrics and visibility after release; leadership understands how CDS products are used and where investment pays off.
  • Interviews must be completed without AI tools or outside prompts. Virtual backgrounds must be removed, and in-person interviews are part of the process. Using AI-generated answers or third-party help during interviews is grounds for disqualification.
  • Candidates may be required to attend an onsite interview at a the company office.
