Description

This lead role covers CNC programming for the whole factory, spanning every component, process and machine.

You will work alone and within a team in a matrixed organization, often under time pressure, and help drive change within and beyond the team.

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain CNC programs in NX-CAM or other software, including multi-axis milling, turning, grinding and/or EDM work.
  • Check every new program in Vericut before it goes to the shop floor.
  • Assist manufacturing engineers with CNC questions, and train operators when new or rebuilt machines start up or when processes change.
  • Give daily hands-on help to operators with programming and troubleshooting.
  • Set up and support tooling and fixturing for CNC machine tools.
  • Write workstation instructions (methods) for CNC issues.
  • Start and lead projects that improve safety, quality, cost and delivery.
  • Advise on adopting and growing CNC and CAM technology.
  • Keep the right team members informed through clear communication.
  • Train other programmers as needed.
  • Develop, test and tune programs for a Hoffmann RASMX 8-axis broaching machine running SIEMENS SINUMERIK ONE controls.
  • Maintain and update programs for older horizontal broaches, mostly on FANUC controls, that use complex macro variables.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree, or a machinist apprenticeship (or similar) and have 3+ years of programming experience on a graphical CAM system; or hold a high school diploma and have 6 years of that experience.
  • Be able to access U.S. export-controlled information. Any final offer depends on obtaining U.S. Government authorization for that access.
  • Desired: extremely careful with detail.
  • Desired: experience broaching turbine or compressor discs for power generation or aerospace.
  • Desired: thorough grasp of CNC programs and subprograms, and full command of machine and part coordinate systems.
  • Desired: clear grasp of CNC macro programming and complex variables.
  • Desired: Bachelor's degree in engineering or machine tool technology.
  • Desired: experience building 5-axis CNC programs in a CAM system, NX preferred.
  • Desired: Vericut experience preferred, or experience with other CNC verification or machine simulation software.
  • Desired: solid working knowledge of Fanuc, Haas, Okuma and SIEMENS SINUMERIK ONE controls.
  • Desired: proven ability to read drawings.
  • Desired: knowledge of machining high temperature alloys used in gas turbines.
  • Desired: strong problem solving and organizing skills, with above-average shop math in geometry and trigonometry.
  • Desired: able to communicate clearly with many levels of an organization, both spoken and written.
  • Desired: able to juggle several projects at once.
  • Desired: self-driven, with a record of leading projects.
  • Desired: willing to take on new challenges, own outcomes and make decisions.
