Description

The company is a manufacturing services provider with over 60 years in business and more than 100 sites worldwide, serving major brands with engineering, supply chain and manufacturing work.

This is a lead role on the cloud test development team in the Enterprise and Infrastructure division. The work is on large-scale production software, and the engineer helps shape how hardware products are tested before they ship.

The role sits between internal engineering, manufacturing and quality teams and the end customers, and the software must meet the standards of the company's manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the end-to-end architecture, definition, development and production deployment of production software and infrastructure across multiple customers and manufacturing regions.
  • Design and build test systems and procedures for manufacturing, including test plans, test cases and test scripts that check the function and performance of motherboards, memory, CPUs, storage (SSD, HDD, NVMe) and PCIe devices (NIC, GPU, Mezz and RAID cards).
  • Create, validate, release and maintain the automation software and scripts that run tests, control test equipment, collect and analyse data and generate reports.
  • Support and maintain the server (L10) and rack (L11) test software and infrastructure at production facilities, including minor configuration changes for new IPNs.
  • Keep server (L10) and rack (L11) documentation complete, covering test procedures, specifications and infrastructure.
  • Define the overall test infrastructure and application architecture, and work with hardware, manufacturing and quality engineers to agree on test requirements and quality standards.
  • Track new developments in test technology, methods and best practice so manufacturing processes stay current.
  • Manage and supervise staff, reporting to management.

Requirements

  • Strong skills in Python, BASH and Linux. C or C++ is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals, including CentOS and Ubuntu.
  • Hands-on experience with IPMI, Redfish, mprime, FIO, Linpack, ptugen and memtester to control, manage and stress L10 devices such as servers, network equipment and SSD and NVMe storage.
  • Experience creating and configuring virtual machines and services such as DHCP, PXE boot and nginx. VMware is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise Ethernet datacenter switching and routing at layers 1 to 3, including BGP, DHCP Relay and ECMP. Arista CloudVision is a plus.
  • Experience with version control, Git preferred.
  • Good grasp of professional software engineering practice across the full lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing and operations.
  • A BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field. An MS is preferred.
  • Experience developing or sustaining manufacturing test software for enterprise server, storage or networking products.
  • Clear written and spoken communication.
  • Experience working across multiple sites and cultures.
  • Domestic and/or international travel of up to 10% may be required.
