Lead App Engineer - Discovery & Consideration (all genders)

Description

The company is one of the fastest-growing e-commerce businesses in Europe, combining fashion with technology from offices in Hamburg and Berlin.

You would join the team building the mobile app for iOS and Android, written in Flutter.

Decision making is flat and direct: people own their work, communicate openly, and make pragmatic calls without long sign-off chains.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a high-quality iOS and Android app in Flutter.
• Shape architecture choices and define coding standards for the team.
• Collaborate across a cross-stack setup with product managers, designers, testers, and the backend and web teams.
• Bring in new technologies, tools, and processes that raise developer productivity and product quality.
• Track down performance and reliability problems anywhere in the stack.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of programming experience, including a minimum of 1 year building apps.
• Expert knowledge of Dart and Flutter.
• Hands-on work with CI/CD tools such as fastlane or GitHub Actions, plus unit and golden tests.
• Strong skills in performance optimization and profiling.
• Clear ownership, self-motivation, and leadership, with good teamwork, communication, and problem solving.
• Native mobile experience on iOS and/or Android, or experience with automated mobile testing.
• Experience with gRPC, Firebase, and monitoring tools such as Sentry or DataDog.
• Figma skills and open-source experience.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field is a plus, but skills count for more.
